Beach Erosion Causes 2 Beaches To Close

Yesterday we shared with you a picture of what the beach erosion looked like on North Wildwood’s 5th avenue street beaches. Today we are now reporting that the City of North Wildwood has made the decision to close that section of the beach so that it can be repaired.

In a statement on Facebook posted yesterday evening, North Wildwood Police Department posted this statement: (See below)

***BEACH CLOSURE NOTIFICATION – The beach between 3rd and 5th Avenues will be closed starting at 7 AM tomorrow morning for two days to stabilize the dune and to eliminate the current cliff condition. The contractor, Perna Finnigan, Inc., will erect orange safety fence tomorrow morning to prohibit access to this section of the beach. It is of utmost importance the public stays out of the work zone for their safety. Thank you for your cooperation.”

Have you ever wonder how the city replenishes the beach every winter? Check out the video below as workers fixed the beach on 3rd and JFK Ave.
