Beach FootGolf 2015

Beach FootGolf 2015

New to the Wildwoods this summer is Beach FootGolf. Beach FootGolf is a combination of the two well known sports of soccer and golf. Like golf, a player needs to get the ball into a hole that is located down a long course but unlike golf, instead of a player needing to use a club to hit a ball a player kicks a soccer ball.

The event will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2015 and will be held on the beach at Schellenger Avenue. (The event will take place between Morey’s Piers’ Mariners Landing and Adventure Pier) Similar to the rules of golf, there will be nine holes with tee boxes, bunkers, hazards and greens.

If you have questions about the event or if you want to register a team please click here. Beach FootGolf is only open to 50 teams so make sure you register early so that you are guaranteed a spot to play. To register you need to go to the website, www.moreyspiers.com/footgolf. It is $100 per team to participate with a max of 10 people.

Beach Footgolf is a national sport. The American FootGolf League is made up of many different teams nationwide. Check them out on their website, www.afgl.us.  As explained on their website, The first nine-hole foot golf tournament on a golf course, and played as the sport is know today, was organized in the Netherlands in 2008 by Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten, and played by a mix of Dutch and Belgian professional footballers.
Due to the event being outside, please make sure you are keeping an eye on the weather. If there is light rain in the forecast then the event will continue. If thunder and lighting is forecasted then the even will be cancelled. For more information on the event email, beach.sports@moreyspiers.com or call the number 609.729.3700 extension 1195.

Have fun and good luck!
