Gov. Murphy Rejects $56M Wildwood Boardwalk Repair

The Wildwoods just received a big blow from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

On Friday Gov. Murphy announced at a press conference that he would not be passing a measure that would help repair and replace the entire length of the Wildwood boardwalk.

According to the bill, the money would have been sent out in $4 million increments until fiscal year 2034. The exact wording of the bill read;

“Beginning in fiscal year 2020 and in each fiscal year thereafter prior to fiscal year 2034, there2 10 shall be appropriated 2 [annually] $4,000,0002 11 from the General Fund to the Greater 12 Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority 13 established pursuant to section 18 of P.L.1992, c.165”

This bill was first introduced by Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano back in February. The figure back then was over $65 Million which was part of the Wildwood master plan. In this plan not just the boardwalk would be replaced. the infrastructure that the boardwalk has under it would be replaced too. From sewer, gas pipes, water pipes, electric and concrete, it would all be replaced.
