Morey’s Piers, the classic shore side amusement park destination located on the world famous Wildwoods’ Boardwalk in the Wildwoods, NJ, invites runners to the 13.1 mile half marathon, 8K and 5K races along the Wildwoods coastline on Sunday, May 15. Additionally there will be a “wild child” 1 mile race for kids on Saturday, May 14.

Children 12 and under are invited to get fit and participate in their first “marathon” on Saturday, May 14. The Wild Child 1 Mile Race will begin at 12 noon on the beach directly behind Mariner’s Landing Pier, located at Schellenger Avenue and the Boardwalk. Kids will follow a one mile course along the beach and finish at the Rendezvous Beach Pavilion for the wild child after party featuring complimentary refreshments and live music.

On Sunday, May 15, the Wild Half Race Series will feature the love of running combined with the rhythm of beach life for one amazing 13.1 mile half marathon as well as a 4.8 mile race (8K) and 3.1 mile race (5K). Set along the picturesque sights and sounds of the Wildwoods, the course takes you from stunning views of the coast into the action of the boardwalk creating one unforgettable event.

Both courses will feature live music, well-stocked aid stations and a finish line celebration located right in front of the Wildwoods Convention Center. Races begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by an awards ceremony and an after party featuring live music, food and beer. Participants can also enjoy yoga on the beach and a free weekend pass to all of Morey’s Amusement Piers and Water Parks.

New this year, the Wild Half Virtual Run offers athletes flexibility to compete in the Wild Half or 8K, wherever and whenever. Those unable to travel to the Wildwoods for the race date can still get in on the Morey’s Piers fun. Virtual runners will receive an official Wild Half race bib, Wild Half t-shirt, and finisher medal for completing a half marathon, 8K and 5K distance between their registration date and May 18, 2016. Runners must email first and last name, race location and finish time to wild.half@moreyspiers.com and share a photo taken while running to the Wild Half Marathon and 8K Facebook page.
