Beach Sports Festival 2015 Hosted By Morey’s Piers

Morey’s Piers is hosting their annual Beach Sports Festival this weekend and there are tons of events going on.  The competition is a two day event, , Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, and the events from from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Beach Sports Festival features many different spots from lacrosse, field hockey, running and other track related events. All the events will take place at Schellenger Avenue and the beach. (This is located between the two Morey’s Piers; Mariner’s Landing and Adventure Pier in Wildwood.)

For your ease we placed the schedule that Morey’s Piers placed on their website. Lacrosse and Field Hockey schedules will be posted the day of the event so they are not listed below.

 

Saturday, July 18th

Pole Vault

10:00 AM – Pole Vault

The Beach Mile

10:00 AM – Seeded Heat Men (5:30 or faster, all ages)
10:15 AM – Seeded Heat Women (5:30 or faster, all ages)
10:30 AM – Mixed Wave 1 (Open)
10:45 AM – Mixed Wave 2 (Open)
11:00 AM – Mixed Wave 3 (Open)
11:15 AM – Mixed Wave 4 (Open)

 

Sunday, July 19th

10:00 AM – Triple Jump
10:00 AM – Long Jump
10:00AM – Shot Put
12:00 PM – 800 meter run

 

Here is information about each event that is taking place.

 

Beach Lacrosse

Games are 5v5, 4 field players plus a goalie, with a maximum of 10 players per team. Each game will have two 18-minute halves with a 4-minute break. Each team will play a minimum of 3 games. Divisions will run from Boy’s & Girl’s U8 – U18, Men’s & Women’s Open. Beach Lacrosse is played with NO SHOES (except goalies).

Field Hockey

Games are 5v5, 4 players on the field plus a goalie, with a maximum of 10 players per team.  Games are 25 minutes each with running clock.  Fields are 30 yards by 50 yards.  Each team will play a minimum of 5 games (weather and unforeseen conditions permitting). Divisions will include: U19 (includes HS Varsity), U16 (includes HS junior varsity), U14, Women’s Open and Co-Ed Open. Beach hockey plays with a rubberized ball which is slightly larger than a regular field hockey ball.

Pole vault will run girls and boys simultaneously on separate pits. The divisions and order of events are as follows: High school girls and high school boys start 10:00am. Open men and open women immediately follow high school boys and girl’s

Pole-vault poles are not provided, rentals are $25+ a security deposit.

Shot put will run girls and boys simultaneously on separate throwing circles. The divisions and order of events are as follows: High school girls and high school boys start 10:00am. Open men and open women immediately follow high school boys and girls. Junior divisions will immediately follow the open divisions in this order – 9-10, 11-12, 13-14

Triple jump will run girls and boys simultaneously on separate runways. The divisions and order of events are as follows: High school girls and high school boys start 10:00am. Open men and open women immediately follow high school boys and girls. Junior divisions will immediately follow the open divisions in this order – 9-10, 11-12, 13-14

Long Jump will run girls and boys simultaneously on separate runways. The divisions and order of events are as follows: High school girls and high school boys start 10:00am. Open men and open women immediately follow high school boys and girls. Junior divisions will immediately follow the open divisions in this order – 9-10, 11-12, 13-14

Triathlon (800 meters) – The triathlon will consist of the long jump, shot put and 800 meter run. You will compete in the long jump and shot put according the schedule for those events based on what division you would fall under. The 800 will go off at 12:00 no matter what else is competing.
