New Vendor Coming Cape May Ferry Terminal

Big changes are happening at the North Cape May terminal of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry! Aramark is taking over as the new food supplier, and they’ve scored a 10-year lease from the Delaware River and Bay Authority. This means they get about 11,750 square feet inside the terminal and a whopping 15,550 square feet of patio space, plus exclusive access to some green space.

The authority’s board of commissioners gave the thumbs up to this plan on Dec. 19. Aramark is also committing to spending at least $500,000 on improvements during the lease. And if things go well, they might stick around even longer.

Exit Zero Hospitality, the current food boss is wrapping up its nearly three-year run. They’ve made a deal with the Delaware River and Bay Authority to end their lease on February 29, 2024. This leaves room for Aramark to take over in time for the summer season.

While all this is happening, Cafe 64 is keeping the coffee flowing! They’re open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8 am to 6 pm. And guess what? Everything in the store is 50% off, except for food and the 2024 Discount Deck.

The authority got two proposals to fill Exit Zero’s shoes. Aramark was one of them, and the other came from Nobil Food Services LLC.

Aramark is bringing some cash to the table too. They’ve offered to pay the authority $75,000 in rent every year. And that rent could go up with adjustments over time. On top of that, Aramark is willing to share a percentage of their revenue – 7.5% if they make more than $1,500,000 and 10% if they hit over $3,000,001.

We reached out to Aramark for a comment but haven’t heard back. It is assumed that we will see the same kind of food we see at other Aramark locations in our area.

So, get ready for some changes in the food scene at the ferry terminal! Aramark is taking the lead, and it looks like there’s some tasty stuff in store.
