Wildwoods Construction Update – Late April 2024
It’s been over a month since our last Wildwoods Construction Update video, and we’re excited to showcase the progress since then. You can watch the video at the bottom of this page.
Our previous video, filmed in March, highlighted a plethora of exciting new projects across the island.
You can compare the developments in that video with our latest one by clicking the link below:
In this edition, we’ll journey from North Wildwood through Wildwood Crest, culminating at the new Madison Resorts. With Memorial Day Weekend just a month away, many of these projects are in full swing to meet their completion deadlines.
North Wildwood’s Gateway Entrance and Gold Star Memorial
In North Wildwood, significant progress has been made on the Gateway Entrance and Gold Star Memorial since our last update. Crews are currently pouring concrete for the memorial while also laying piping for sewer and water systems.
Phase I of this project is expected to be completed by May, with Phase II slated for later in the fall.
Phase II includes that massive welcome tower along with a fountain, benches, and beautiful landscaping.
North Wildwood Dredging Project + Capping Wildwood’s Dump
The dredging project at North Wildwood’s 5th Street boat ramp has been successfully concluded, with the removal of geo-bags. Wondering where all the sand has gone?
A whopping 10,000 cubic feet of it now resides in Wildwood’s old dump. The City of Wildwood is working on capping the dump, which has been underutilized for decades.
Currently standing at 15 feet high, the city aims to add an additional 2 feet of sand to cap it off at 17 feet. This long-discussed project is finally making significant headway.
Once the site has been capped, the city can work on getting it ready to open for the public. There is still no final plan for this land but the city did vote in favor of moving forward with the work.
The Point Tiki Bar and The Honky Tonk Saloon
Garfield And Ocean Ave will never look the same, in a great way.
Progress at the Point Tiki Bar and The Honky Tonk Saloon, both of which are across the street from each other, are nearing completion, with about 70% of the work done.
While visiting The Point Tiki Bar, we are able to see that the main construction of the building is almost done while the exterior fences are being installed.
The Honky Tonk Saloon is moving extremely fast as well. Inside most of the work on the floors and lighting is getting completed, while outside a new sign was being hung.
Mudhen’s Expansion
The expansion at Mudhen looks to be almost done on the outside. Part of the wall had been removed showcasing the new stucco walls.
In the video, we were able to get a seagull’s point of view of the construction. From up there, you can see how the new building flows with the rest of the property.
There have been many rumors on what this new section could be but from what we heard, it will be mostly event space plus flow-over space for when they are packed during the summer.
The Vibes Hotel, Madison Resorts
Two major resorts are coming to the Wildwoods this year, The Vibes Hotel and Madison Resorts
At Spicer and Atlantic Ave, The Binns and Bonito Motel are still undergoing a transformation into The Vibes Motel, boasting Doo-Wop architecture designs, including a unique blast-off roof.
Crews have been there 10 hours every day seven days a week to get this place up and running.
Madison Resorts, which is at Rambler Ave, Orchid Ave, and Ocean Ave, are extremely close to its opening. Its opening day at its main building had been pushed back slightly as the weather hasn’t been on our side lately. Both are expected to be ready in the next few weeks.
These projects are just a glimpse of the ongoing developments in the Wildwoods.
For a comprehensive overview of these projects and more, the WVA has released a recap video as part of its monthly Wildwoods Construction Update.
