First LOOK – Stowaways Restaurant at Cape May Ferry Terminal
There is finally a new restaurant and bar set up inside the Cape May Ferry Terminal in North Cape May.
The Cape May Ferry Terminal restaurant area takes up about 11,750 square feet inside the terminal and a whopping 15,550 square feet of patio space, plus exclusive access to some green space.
Back in September 2023, Exit Zero Hospitality announced its departure from the iconic ferry terminal waterfront location.
Their agreement with its landlord, the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), terminated on March 1, 2024, with no announcement at that time on who would be taking over the lease.
In the three years that Exit Zero called the terminal home, they created an amazing environment that quickly became a fan favorite.
Besides the fantastic sunsets you could catch, Exit Zero had incredible drinks and food. Along with the events that were held there, this was the place to be.
When they left, it created a giant hole in the restaurant and bar scene in the area.

After the new year, the word finally came in that DRBA had signed an agreement with Aramark to take over the space. On top of running the old Exit Zero restaurant and bar, Aramark also took control of the Cafe 64 space.
Aramark scored a 10-year lease from the DRBA on December 19th, with Aramark promising to spend at least $500,000 on property improvements.
To make the deal sweeter, Aramark is paying the authority $75,000 in rent every year with possible adjustments and a percentage of their revenue if they make more than $1,500,000.
From the time Exit Zero closed their location until now, work has been taking place inside to get it ready to transform into its new life as Stowaways Cafe and Stowaways Restaurant.
Stowaways is such a perfect name for a ferry terminal.
A stowaway is a person who secretly boards a vehicle, such as a ship, airplane, train, or truck, without the knowledge or permission of the owner or operator, typically to travel without paying for a ticket. Stowaways often hide in cargo holds, luggage compartments, or other concealed areas to avoid detection.
As you can see, very clever!
Over Memorial Day weekend, The Wildwood Video Archive was able to stop by for a quick tour of the area.
In looking around, it doesn’t seem like too much work had been done in the sections we had seen. Mostly, signage was changed along with some repairs on the walls.
