Starbucks is Coming to the Wildwood Boardwalk!
You may have heard the rumors, and today we can finally confirm: a Starbucks is coming to the Wildwood Boardwalk!
For weeks, speculation has been circulating about the possibility of the popular coffee chain setting up shop in one of New Jersey’s most beloved seaside destinations. Today, we are thrilled to put those rumors to rest with an enthusiastic, “Yes, it’s happening!”
The Wildwood Video Archive visited the new location at Glenwood and the Boardwalk to ask the crew some questions.
This site used to house a t-shirt shop called “Boardwalk Empire,” but many people recognize it as the location of the abandoned hotel above it.
For the past decade, the top two floors of this building have sat empty after plans fell through around 2009. Last summer, it was announced that the entire building would be renovated and turned into “The Wild Resort.”
The approved hotel application includes transforming the existing building by adding two additional floors, thereby increasing the total number of rooms to 75.
The renovation plans also feature a rooftop pool, a new restaurant, and a comprehensive refurbishment of the shops on the first floor. These enhancements aim to significantly elevate the overall guest experience and attract more visitors to the area.
While the project was approved last year, construction did not start as planned, and some of the building collapsed. Repairs began in the spring, and soon after, work on the new Starbucks commenced.

Renderings of the hotel show a space designated for a cafe where the Starbucks is being built. When speaking to the crews, we asked if this would be a full Starbucks or a “Starbucks Proudly Serve.”
“Starbucks Proudly Serve” is a program that allows businesses such as hotels, cafes, universities, hospitals, and offices to offer Starbucks coffee and products without being a full-fledged Starbucks store. These locations serve Starbucks-branded coffee, tea, and other beverages, often alongside pastries and snacks, providing the same high-quality experience that customers expect from Starbucks.
According to the crew, this will be a full-fledged Starbucks.
While we were there, we witnessed delivery trucks dropping off furniture from Williams Sonoma called “Wind Coffee Walnut” and top-of-the-line coffee machines.
For those wondering when this new location will open, the crew mentioned it might be open in August, but there is no official opening date yet.
This will be the second Starbucks in the Wildwoods. Last year, a new drive-up/pick-up Starbucks opened at 4800 Park Blvd.
This location has no indoor seating and only offers a drive-thru and a pick-up window. Interestingly, the new boardwalk location will have a sit-down area but no pick-up window or drive-thru.
