Wildwood’s New Boardwalk Crackdown Explained

As preparations begin for the 2025 summer season, the City of Wildwood is reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly environment along its historic boardwalk.

Under a new public safety initiative titled “Every Night Is A Family Night,” the city has announced a series of enhanced safety measures aimed at curbing unruly behavior and ensuring that visitors of all ages can enjoy everything Wildwood has to offer without disruption.

Strict Enforcement of 10PM Curfew for Minors

At the center of the initiative is the 10:00 PM curfew for individuals under the age of 18, which will be strictly enforced throughout the season.

Minors found on the boardwalk after that time must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Failure to comply may result in arrests—not only of the minors involved but also of their parents or guardians.

“We want everyone to have a great time in Wildwood, but safety comes first,” said Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy. “Our boardwalk is a family-friendly destination, and we are committed to maintaining that environment.”

Expanded Safety Measures

New Teen Curfew in Wildwood Starts Next Week

In addition to curfew enforcement, city officials have unveiled several new measures designed to promote public safety and deter disruptive behavior:

Protective bollards have been installed at key points along the boardwalk to enhance pedestrian safety.
An expanded network of security cameras has been activated to monitor activity more effectively.
Increased police presence will provide greater oversight and faster response to any incidents.

Deputy Mayor and Commissioner of Public Safety Steve Mikulski emphasized that these measures are part of a proactive strategy to preserve Wildwood’s longstanding reputation as a premier family vacation destination.

“These changes are designed to protect our residents, our businesses, and our visitors,” Mikulski stated. “We’re sending a clear message that safety is our top priority.”

Mayor Troiano: “We’re Not Playing Games”

Mayor Ernie Troiano issued a firm reminder that the curfew is not a recommendation—it’s the law.

“This isn’t a suggestion—it’s the law,” said Mayor Troiano. “We’re not playing games when it comes to the safety of our boardwalk and the families who come here to enjoy themselves. If you break the rules, you’ll face the consequences. It’s that simple.”

Additional Regulations Supporting a Safe Environment

The curfew initiative builds on a series of recent ordinances enacted by the city to maintain order and enhance the visitor experience. These include:

A Backpack Ban restricting large bags on the boardwalk after 8:00 PM and during beach hours.
An Alcohol Ban prohibiting open alcohol containers on the beach and boardwalk (excluding permitted events and licensed establishments).
A Pop-Up Party Ordinance designed to prevent unsanctioned and unpermitted gatherings.
