The Wildwoods are heating up with an electrifying new event this summer — and it’s bringing some serious NFL star power to the Jersey Shore.

NFL Legend DeSean Jackson Is Coming to Wildwood
What Is the BFL?
The Beach Football League was founded in 2024 by two-time Super Bowl champion Tully Banta-Cain, and it’s making waves as the world’s first football league played entirely on sand. This isn’t your typical gridiron action — BFL games feature a fast-paced, modified 8-on-8 format, a smaller field, and two 15-minute halves, all played under rugby-style tackling rules for improved safety and speed.
The league’s mission is clear: agility, accessibility, and adrenaline. Think of it as football meets music festival — high-octane games paired with a family-friendly, interactive beach experience.
Wildwood Open: June 7–8th
The Wildwood event, dubbed the “Wildwood Open,” will be a full-day celebration of football and fun, bringing together aspiring athletes, NFL legends, and families for a weekend that’s sure to become a summer tradition.
Here’s what to expect:
Open Tryouts
Are you an athlete with dreams of making it big? The BFL is holding open tryouts for anyone 18+ who graduated high school in 2024 or earlier. Participants must not be under contract with any pro football league or part of a college team in the 2024 season. The tryouts will mirror the NFL Combine, testing speed, strength, and skill on the sand.
Youth Football Clinic
Kids ages 8–17 can participate in a football clinic led by NFL players and coaches, followed by a youth tournament for high school-aged players. This is a rare opportunity for young athletes to train with the pros and build lifelong memories.
