Breeze Airways Is Coming to Atlantic City International Airport

Breeze Airways Is Coming to Atlantic City International Airport

For decades, Atlantic City International Airport felt like a convenient but limited option for South Jersey travelers. It was easy to use, easy to park at, and far less stressful than larger airports, but the tradeoff was always the same. Few airlines and few destinations.

That is now officially changing.

Today, Breeze Airways announced it will begin regular nonstop service from Atlantic City International Airport, adding new destinations and continuing a recent wave of airline growth at the South Jersey airport.

Service to Charleston is scheduled to begin in May, with Raleigh Durham flights following in June.

Introductory one way fares are starting as low as $39, placing the new routes firmly in the low cost travel category.

This announcement marks a significant moment for Atlantic City International Airport, which now has three commercial airlines actively serving passengers.

Also, many people wanted more stops instead of just going down to Florida. So this seems to be a really great addition.

For many years, Spirit Airlines was the backbone of commercial air service in Atlantic City. Spirit built a steady network focused largely on Florida destinations, including Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, West Palm Beach, and Fort Myers, along with seasonal service to leisure markets like Myrtle Beach.

That model made ACY a popular choice for budget travelers heading south, but it also left the airport heavily reliant on a single carrier.

Earlier this year, that dynamic began to shift when Allegiant Air launched service from Atlantic City. Allegiant added multiple nonstop routes to Florida, including Fort Lauderdale, St Petersburg Clearwater, Orlando Sanford, and Punta Gorda.

The airline’s entry added competition, new schedules, and more options for travelers who prefer nonstop leisure focused flights.

In addition to those carriers, American Airlines maintains a presence at Atlantic City through its Landline service. While not a traditional flight, the service allows passengers to book a single ticket that includes a bus connection from Atlantic City directly into the secure terminal at Philadelphia International Airport, providing access to American’s global route network.

Do we even count that as another airline at the airport (I would say no)

Breeze’s arrival builds on that momentum and adds something entirely new. Atlantic City has never had consistent nonstop service to North Carolina, and these routes open direct connections to fast growing Southeastern cities that appeal to vacationers, college families, and business travelers.

For residents of Atlantic County, Cape May County, and surrounding South Jersey communities, the expanding airline lineup makes flying local increasingly practical.

Atlantic City International Airport remains easier to navigate than Newark or Philadelphia, with simpler parking and typically shorter security lines.

Airlines do not add routes without confidence in demand. Breeze’s decision to invest in Atlantic City signals that the airport is no longer an afterthought in the regional aviation market.

Atlantic City International Airport is still small by design, but with more airlines, more destinations, and more competition, it is quietly becoming a serious option again for South Jersey travelers.
