Wildwood’s Rubber Ducky Regatta Is Making a Comeback

Wildwood’s Rubber Ducky Regatta Is Making a Comeback

If you grew up visiting The Wildwoods, there’s a good chance you remember the annual Rubber Ducky Race. This was when you purchased a fun rubber ducky, and then on race day, another one with your number would ‘race’ in the lazy river at Morey’s Piers.

It was one of those simple summer traditions that brought families together while raising money for a great cause.

I’m sure many of you still have those original ducks, I know do.

Now, after nearly two decades, it’s making a comeback with a brand-new location and an entirely new experience.

The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce Foundation has partnered with Morey’s Piers and Pig Dog Beach Bar to launch the inaugural Pig Dog Rubber Ducky Regatta & Beach Party, a family-friendly fundraiser that is set to become one of the highlights of the 2026 summer season.

The event will take place on Friday, August 21, at Raging Waters Water Park, where Morey’s famous lazy river will be transformed into a giant racecourse.

Up to 3,000 numbered rubber ducks will be released into the water as spectators cheer them on around the river in hopes that their duck crosses the finish line among the first 25.

Each duck corresponds with a raffle ticket, giving participants a chance to win a variety of prizes while supporting educational programs throughout The Wildwoods.

Tickets cost $10 each and include a souvenir rubber duck that participants get to keep after the event.

Organizers say only 3,000 ducks will be available this year, making the race a limited opportunity for both visitors and locals looking to be part of what could become a brand-new Wildwood tradition.

The prize list already includes gift baskets from local businesses, a television, a beach cruiser bicycle, Cape May Day Spa gift cards, and Morey’s Piers ride and water park passes, with even more prizes set to be announced throughout the summer.

According to Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce President Tracey DuFault, bringing back the duck race was an opportunity to recreate a tradition that many longtime visitors fondly remember while raising money for programs that benefit local businesses and children.

After the race wraps up, the fun won’t end there.

Ticket holders are invited to head over to Pig Dog Beach Bar for the official Pig Dog Beach Party, featuring food and drink specials, live entertainment, beachside fire pits, and one of the best ways to end a Friday night in Wildwood: watching the island’s spectacular 10 p.m. fireworks show over the beach.

Morey’s Piers says the partnership is all about creating memorable family experiences while giving back to the community that has supported the company for generations.

By combining the excitement of a duck race with a night on the beach, organizers hope this becomes another signature event that people plan their vacations around.

Beyond the fun, the fundraiser will directly support the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which invests in educational initiatives, workforce development, and programs designed to strengthen the local business community and tourism economy.

With only 3,000 ducks available, organizers are encouraging people to purchase their tickets early before they sell out. If the excitement surrounding the return of this longtime tradition is any indication, the inaugural Pig Dog Rubber Ducky Regatta & Beach Party could quickly become one of the can’t-miss events of the Wildwood summer calendar.

You can start buying them on June 19th at the locations mentioned here –

And maybe if you are lucky, you could win some awesome prizes! See you at the Regatta!
