Two FREE Family Events Coming to Wildwood This October!
The Great American Pumpkin Derby – October 17
Have you ever wondered just how fast a pumpkin can go? Well, you’re about to find out!
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Great American Pumpkin Derby returns to Fox Park in Wildwood as part of the Wildwoods Fall Festival.
This isn’t your typical pumpkin decorating contest. Instead, participants turn their pumpkins into miniature race cars, complete with wheels, before sending them down a specially designed racetrack.
The goal? Build the fastest pumpkin on the block!

Families can bring their own pumpkin racers and compete in different divisions, with prizes awarded to winners.
Don’t have the wheels needed to build your pumpkin racer? No problem! Racing wheels will be available for purchase at Ricciardi Brothers in North Wildwood. (2508 Delaware Ave near CVS)
There will also be a community build event on Saturday morning, starting at 8 AM near Fox Park, where team members from Ricciardi Brothers will help participants secure their wheels.
Participants can find registration information and official rules at www.gwcoC.org.

The fall fun continues the following day!
On Sunday, October 18, families are invited back to Fox Park for the Wildwoods Scarecrow Contest.
Between 10 AM and 1 PM, or until supplies run out, participants can create their very own scarecrow.
The Chamber will provide hay free of charge. All you need to bring is your creativity and a design!
Once completed, you can take your scarecrow home or display it outside your business.
But there’s another fun twist!

Scarecrows displayed throughout the Wildwoods can participate in a community voting contest running from October 26 through November 15.
To qualify, scarecrows must be located in the Wildwoods and registered with the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce on October 18.
Winners will be announced at the Wildwoods Holiday Shopping Village at Byrne Plaza on Saturday, November 28, at 1 PM.
Whether you’re racing pumpkins or building scarecrows, these two events offer families another reason to visit the Wildwoods this October.
