A New Wawa Is Coming to Wildwood!
Exciting news for Wildwood residents and visitors! A brand-new Wawa is set to make its way to the Wildwoods, and it’s not where you might have expected.
Currently, there are three Wawa locations on the island. North Wildwood hosts one at 330 W Spruce Ave, while Wildwood has two: 418 W Rio Grande Ave and another inland at 3200 New Jersey Ave.

A New Wawa Is Coming to Wildwood!
What sets the 3200 New Jersey Ave location apart is that it does not offer gas—unlike the other two. However, that is about to change.
A new application has been submitted to the City of Wildwood Zoning Board, proposing the construction of a new Wawa at 3400 New Jersey Ave.
This new location would replace the current store at 3200 New Jersey Ave.
If the address sounds familiar, it’s because 3400 New Jersey Ave is currently home to Rite Aid store #01258. As part of the development plan, the applicant proposes to demolish the existing Rite Aid building to make way for a state-of-the-art Wawa convenience store and gas station.
According to the application, Wawa plans to build a 6,372-square-foot convenience store along with a five-dispenser (10 fueling positions) fueling facility.
These types of locations were once referred to as Super Wawas because they offer both a convenience store and a fueling station.
If approved, this would be the first new gas station on the island since the Sinclair Gas Station was built in 2022.
It would also be the first centrally located gas station on the island, making it a convenient option for residents and tourists alike.
In addition to the gas station, Wawa is proposing 46 parking spaces, Landscaping, lighting, and signage (including five building-mounted identification signs).

This proposed size has become the standard now for Wawa since they started moving away from building just convenience stand-alone stores in South Jersey. This comes after much competition from other brands like Royal Farms.
There is no word yet if this Wawa will have similar Doo-Wop-inspired signs like the location at Rio Grande Ave. (though we would be happy to argue that Wawa is the coolest in Wawa’s collection)
The Wildwood Video Archive reached out to Wawa for a comment on this story and hasn’t heard back yet.
This development marks an exciting upgrade for Wildwood, bringing more convenience and accessibility to both locals and visitors.
The zoning board will review the application on February 10th, and if approved, this new Wawa could become a major asset to the island.
No word on yet when this new Wawa will start construction.
Stay tuned for more updates as this project progresses!
