Abbott Dairies Demolished in Wildwood
The iconic Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms building, located at 3900 New Jersey Avenue in Wildwood, is being demolished today, marking the end of an era for this historic site.
If you’ve driven down New Jersey Avenue recently, you might have noticed a giant excavator tearing away at the structure, a sight that signals the significant changes coming to this part of town.
It was only yesterday afternoon that a CAT excavator arrived on-site, ready to begin the demolition.
The building had already been without power for several months, a clear indication that plans for its replacement were well underway.
These plans had been approved, paving the way for a new chapter in the history of this location.
The Wildwood Video Archive had reached out to the property owners, Island Acquisitions, LLC, to request a video tour of the interior before the demolition began. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response.
However, our friends at Tiny Churches NJ managed to capture some images, showcasing some of the building’s historic elements one last time. Check out their photos HERE.

The Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms building has a rich history that stretches back over a century. Originally, it was home to Abbott’s Dairies, which opened its doors in 1902.
Over the years, the building changed hands multiple times but eventually became part of the Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms warehouse, continuing its legacy until it was sold last year.
The new owners, Island Acquisitions, LLC, have ambitious plans for the property.
They submitted a proposal to the planning and zoning board to demolish the existing structures, subdivide the 43,600 square-foot property into 19 new lots, and construct an 18-unit townhouse-style multifamily development.
This new development will include amenities such as pools, patios, and open spaces, promising to revitalize this section of town.
The proposal was approved on May 6, 2024, with the goal of beginning construction by the fall.
