Published in 2020, the book quickly became a New York Times bestseller. Notably, former president Barack Obama selected it as one of his favorite books of the year, solidifying Moore’s reputation as a literary force.

Seyfried and Moore visited Kensington, where Seyfried is set to portray a Philadelphia police officer named Mickey on the beat.

The backdrop of the Series, ”Long Bright River” unfolds against the grim backdrop of a Philadelphia neighborhood grappling with the opioid crisis.

The story centers on the contrasting lives of two sisters, Kacey and Mickey.. While Kacey battles addiction on the unforgiving streets, Mickey patrols those very blocks as a dedicated police officer.

The estranged sisters find themselves reunited by a sudden disappearance, coinciding with a series of mysterious murders in Mickey’s district.

During their visit to the 26th Police District, Seyfried and Moore posed for pictures with officers, creating memorable moments that were later shared on the district’s Facebook page.

The series aims to capture the gritty reality of policing in a city affected by societal challenges, making the ride-along an essential aspect of understanding the nuances of the characters and their surroundings.

Amanda Seyfried, known for her roles in iconic films like “Mean Girls” and the 2012 adaptation of “Les Misérables,” takes on the challenging role of portraying Mickey, a Philadelphia police officer.

Interestingly, Seyfried is a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, adding a personal touch to her portrayal of a law enforcement officer in the city.

While much of the series has been filmed in New York, the recent visit to Philadelphia reflects the creators’ commitment to authenticity.

The city’s unique atmosphere and the 26th Police District’s involvement enhance the narrative’s realism, providing viewers with an immersive experience.

The eagerly awaited TV series is set to premiere on the streaming app Peacock.
