Being Bullying by Wildwood’s Tony Deutsch

The integrity of a writer is the most important thing you could have. It refers to the adherence to moral and ethical principles in the process of writing, which involves being truthful, transparent, and accountable for the words and ideas expressed in their work.

Reporters, while competitive to get stories out, are required to follow unwritten and written rules when it comes to reporting on a story. These rules include not stealing a sourced photo (unless you have permission), if you write a story based on another reporter’s work and source you credit them…etc

While it’s always nice to be first, it’s more important to be correct and honest.

Today I’m being honest with you about a problem I have been having since 2019, I’m being bullied.

This year marks the Wildwood Video Archive’s ninth year since I started my blog which now has become one of the leading news websites for South Jersey. I’m proud of my work and spend much time accurately reporting on stories, curating history videos, and helping businesses get their name out there but for the past five years I have been bullied, harassed, and threatened by Tony Deutsch at watchthetramcarplease.com and the Facebook Page Watch The Tramcar Please.

Mr. Deutsch used to be a great guy on the island and extremely well-liked. When I first started my Youtube channel back in 2014, Mr. Deutsch gave honest and helpful information on how to get started. Over that time something had changed with him that had him smearing my name online and even creating an entire website page ‘calling out my lies.’

This all started back on April 2019. Just a few years prior I had uploaded my first big Wildwood archived video, “Wildwood In 1915.” This film was the first ever video of the Wildwoods. I was able to obtain the original video from a film company. Since the film was so old, we paid a company to digitally scan the film, frame by frame.

This video lived on Youtube and on April 10th, 2019  we received a notification from YouTube saying that that the channel “Anthony W Deutsch” had downloaded one of my videos and uploaded it to their channel. In line with the bylaws of YouTube this was stealing so they removed his video.

On April 20th, Tony wrote an article about the Kate Smith National Anthem and called me out. He mentioned to people where I live and gave out my personal information for people to contact me. Up to this point, I had no idea Tony had a problem with me

After this, he did a slue of ripping down my articles word for word and uploading them to his website. Sometimes he would take my photos and upload them even though they had my name, Wildwood Video Archive, located on them.

An example of that is my August 10th, 2018 Rio Grande Movie Theater article that he stole word-for-word.

Things like this would happen to many of my articles and videos. (See a list of incidents with Tony Deutsch towards the bottom of the page through 2021)

Things really took a turn when Tony purchased my name as a domain. When you typed in JoeyContino.com, it links back to his website, and the page he created trying to smear me.

And if things couldn’t get worse, Tony Deutsch started making threats about me and starting calling me out during his morning broadcasts.

Below are the transcripts from Tony’s live streams. These recordings take place in the summer of 2019 and some in the summer of 2020. (You can hear all the recordings in the video under these transcripts)

[00:00:00.00] “His name’s Joey Contino. C.O.N.T.I.N.O. that’s his name.”

[00:00:06.00] “If he’s got any problems, I’ll tell him right to his face. Okay, I’m not afraid of him or anybody else. I don’t like when you post fake news and get us involved in stuff. We shouldn’t be involved in and I’ll call him out every single time.”

[00:00:30.00] “It may be looking the other way around but it’s not. Joey wants to play the game and act like he’s all mister innocent. In the meantime, he’s stealing everybody else’s info including this page that he stole from the Wildwood convention center and I working on that right now….Okay, when I’m done with him, he won’t even have a page anymore because he didn’t start it from scratch like Al and me, so I have no respect for him at all.”

 

This is the Tony Deutsch I’ve been dealing with all these years. Not the fun guy I used to know but someone who clearly had an agenda against me.

Over this time I have tried to find ways to get him to stop. Ive had his friends talk to him and had his prior bosses talk to him, I tried to talk to him, but he just doesn’t stop.

Even up to this week, he stole my drone photos and uploaded them to his website. No permission, no message. He continued the bullying by uploading his latest attack against me saying that I have a mental issue. (see below).

I just want this guy to stop. I’m not sure what’s going on in his head, but he clearly has something against me. 

I appreciate everyone who had reached out and has shown me support over these past few years. This doesn’t stop me from continuing to do my work but it does make me feel uneven knowing that he will continue to steal.

The only reason why I make this public today is that Tony Deutsch is ruining my professional career outside of my Wildwood news. I work in radio across the country and have had jobs passes over me due to his false narrative. I’m done putting up with him bullying me.

– Tony had started putting my name in his articles to confuse people and think that I was writing them. [Ive never written for or had anything to do with his site]

2019-09-11 – Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen – Randomly Put My Name

– Once again Tony put my name on his site to confuse my readers.

2019-09-17 – Tony Purchases JoeyContino.com

– Without me knowing, Tony purchased my domain name JoeyContino.com.

[Note: I didn’t find out about it until 4 months later. Currently, when you go to visit that URL it get directed to his website which features an article about me stealing his work. See 2021-02-10]

2019-10-05 – Stolen Article – The Future of Roar at the Shore – WTTP

2019-11-13 – Cape May Beach Theatre SOLD! – Randomly Put My Name

– Once again Tony put my name on his site to confuse my readers.

2020

2020-01-03 – Stolen Crest Pier Renderings Article

– I started putting watermarks on my photos to see if he takes my content. These renderings, which was publicly available at this time, all have the watermark “Wildwood Video Archive” written on them.

2020-02-10 – Sam’s Pizza Opens This Friday – Randomly Put My Name

– Once again Tony put my name on his site to confuse my readers.

2020-02-11 – The NEW 22nd Street Boardwalk – Randomly Put My Name

– Once again Tony put my name on his site to confuse my readers.

2020-02-20 – Toll Man Joe’s – Randomly Put My Name

– Once again Tony put my name on his site to confuse my readers.

2020-04-13 – Boardwalk Damage – Tony Steals Photo and Caption – WTTC

– After a reader sent me photos directly, Tony took them and uploaded them to his Facebook page

2020-04-13c – Congress Hall Video Stolen – WTTP

– After a reader sent me videos about Congress Hall directly, Tony took them and uploaded them to his Facebook page

2020-04-14 – Tony Purchases WildwoodVideoArchives.com

– To confuse my followers Tony purchased a domain name that is one letter different than mine.

2020-04-26 – Posts Comment In Live Stream Calling Me “Fake News”

– During this day Tony went Live on Facebook to dispute a post I put up. In the caption of the video, he says that I am fake news and tells people to not believe anything I post. – Viewed more than 7K at that time

– Randomly he started posting photos and selling people to be aware of my page because I post Click Bait

2021-02-09 – Riggins on Rio Grande in Wildwood, NJ – Calls Me Out

– After a while of Tony leaving me alone, he calls me out in this article at the bottom. He even calls me a lier in the comment section

2021-02-10 – North Wildwood Boardwalk Block – Tony claims I Copied His Post

– I broke the story that a block of the boardwalk was sold and Tony went ahead and took the article and claimed that I took it from him.

2021-02-10 – North Wildwood Boardwalk Block – Tony Changes Posting Time

– I posted my article (see below) at 7:53 am that morning. To ‘show’ that he posted it before me, even though he posted it at 9:08 am, he back-dated it on Facebook to appear that it was posted at 5:56 am).

– On Facebook, you can do this but as a safety feature, they have an icon you, the reader, can press to confirm any changes.

2021-02-10 – Tony Creates Page To ‘Detail’ my plagiarism

– This page keeps growing every day but attached is the latest he had added to it.

2021-02-15 – Stolen Crest Volunteer Fire Photos

– As above, he stole my photos for this article. As normal I watermarked all my photos for this season.
