Cape May County Bridges To End Cash Tolls

Cape May County Bridges To End Cash Tolls

The Cape May County Bridge Commission has announced a change in its toll collection system.

Beginning April 1, 2025, all bridges under the Commission’s authority will transition to cashless, all-electronic tolling.

This move aims to streamline travel, reduce congestion, and enhance safety by eliminating the need for vehicles to stop at toll booths.

The Bridge Commission is responsible for 5 toll bridges on Ocean Drive from Cape May to Ocean City within the county.

Those bridges include, Ocean City-Longport Bridge, Townsends Inlet Bridge, Corsons Inlet Bridge, Middle Thorofare Bridge, and Grassy Sound Bridge.

Motorists will have two options for paying tolls: E-ZPass or Toll-by-Plate.

E-ZPass Users: Drivers with a valid E-ZPass transponder will have tolls automatically deducted from their account.

To ensure seamless transactions, motorists should verify that their license plate is properly registered in their E-ZPass account.

Toll-by-Plate Users: For those without an E-ZPass, the system will capture a photograph of the vehicle’s license plate at the time of crossing.

With the transition to all-electronic tolling, the Commission will no longer accept Bridge Tickets as payment. To accommodate customers who may still possess unused tickets, a buyback program has been established.

Customers can return their unused Bridge Tickets by June 30, 2025, and receive a refund at the last sale price of $1.20 per ticket. Refunds can be processed in one of two ways:

In-Person Drop-Off: Tickets can be submitted at the Commission’s front desk security office, located at 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
