Cape West Tacos Is Coming to West Cape May

Cape West Tacos Is Coming to West Cape May

A brand-new taco spot is gearing up to make waves in Cape May! Cape West Tacos, located at 479 West Perry Street in West Cape May, is set to bring fresh Mexican flavors to this charming beachside town.

The arrival of Cape West Tacos is exciting news for Cape May County, especially for taco lovers who were disappointed by the recent closure of The Wild Burrito in Wildwood, a long-time local favorite.

The location was previously home to Key West Tacos, which unexpectedly closed its doors this past summer. In an initial Facebook announcement, Key West Tacos shared:

“Unfortunately, Key West Tacos will be temporarily closed until further notice. We are unsure of the exact reopening date at this time, but rest assured we are working hard to get back to serving up our delicious tacos as soon as possible.”

A later update in June added:

“As some of you may know, the reason behind our temporary closure is more than just an exhaust issue; there are several behind-the-scenes obstacles we are working diligently to overcome… Rest assured, we are doing everything in our power to reopen and serve you the tacos you love as soon as possible.”

Sadly, despite their efforts, the restaurant was unable to reopen. But now, a familiar face is stepping in to breathe new life into the space—Joe Beitel, who was a part of Key West Tacos alongside Craig until his passing.

We spoke with Beitel, who shared his vision for Cape West Tacos:

“I want to restore it to its original glory, keeping the mantra of fresh products, fresh food, and great vibes. We’re bringing back the tacos with peace, love, and tacos.”

Beitel plans to host a soft opening during the West Cape May Christmas Parade from December 5-7, with a full grand opening scheduled for March 2025. Cape West Tacos will be open from then through the end of October each year.

To fill in folks with updates on the comeback, a new facebook page for Cape West Tacos has been created. On there you can see photos of the contraction and a new menu.

The menu includes all the usual Mexican food that you love plus many specialty options such as Tony’s Sweet Thai Shrimp, Joey B’s Korean BBQ Brisket, Siggy’s Dynamite Chicken and Pepe’s Shrimp and Chorizo.

We are most excited though for their Beach Ave Bowls, Lots of Nachos and Tavenier Burritos.

We want to wish Beitel and his team the best of luck with Cape West Tacos
