Domino’s Pizza Sparks Debate on the Wildwood Boardwalk
In our latest video on the Wildwood Video Archive, we showcased all the new places that have opened up on the Wildwood Boardwalk for 2024.
This video, which you can watch at the bottom of this page, highlighted various exciting additions. In it, we saw places that do teeth whiting services all the way up to new bars.
However, one restaurant quickly became the most talked-about spot: the new Domino’s Pizza location.
The introduction of Domino’s Pizza has sparked a heated debate among locals and visitors alike.
The Wildwood Boardwalk is traditionally lined with local, family-owned eateries that have been community staples for years.
The arrival of a large chain like Domino’s has raised concerns about the potential impact on these beloved local businesses.
Critics argue that Domino’s, with its substantial financial backing and brand recognition, could pose a significant threat to smaller, family-run establishments.
There is a fear that the competition could drive some of these cherished local spots out of business, altering the unique character of the boardwalk.

Some of the prices that are offered at Domino’s are much lower than traditional places up on the boardwalk due to it being a major chain. This price difference has people concerned that visitors would choose Domino’s over another Mama and Pop shop.
Those in favor of Domino’s on the Wildwood boardwalk see things a bit differently.
The presence of Domino’s doesn’t necessarily mean the end for local eateries. Many visitors to the boardwalk seek out diverse dining experiences, and the unique charm of family-owned restaurants is unlikely to be overshadowed by a single chain.
When people hit the boards they tend to look for food they can only get while on vacation. When was the last time you went to Disney and ordered Cracker Barrel instead of getting the Mickey waffles?
One important aspect to consider is the significant contributions the owner of this Domino’s makes to our area.
For what feels like every month, they have been organizing fundraisers for various local organizations, showing a strong commitment to the community.
Additionally, Domino’s creates not just seasonal jobs but year-round ones, providing stable employment opportunities for local residents.
This can be a vital factor in supporting the local economy and offering consistent income for many families.
