With the grand opening of Showboat’s Island Waterpark scheduled for Friday, June 30th, a glimpse into this transformative project was unveiled during an exclusive preview party held on Thursday, June 22nd.

The Wildwood Video Archive was invited to view the property during the preview party. Here the WVA filmed an entire tour video which you can watch at the bottom of this article

This ambitious venture began to take shape in January 2022, when Blatstein announced a groundbreaking $100 million project that would bring the largest beachfront indoor waterpark in the world to the Atlantic City shores.

Recognizing the absence of family-oriented entertainment options in a city predominantly focused on catering to gamblers, Blatstein seized the opportunity to capture the untapped market of families seeking unforgettable experiences.

The announcement of the Island Waterpark at Showboat Atlantic City was a resounding declaration of his commitment to this vision.

Blatstein’s endeavors in Atlantic City have not gone unnoticed. Prior to the Island Waterpark, he successfully introduced Showboat Atlantic City’s 100,000-square-foot “Lucky Snake” arcade and sports bar, which quickly became a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike.

With over 300 games available, the Lucky Snake Arcade proudly holds the title of the largest arcade on the East Coast. Not stopping there, Blatstein elevated the entertainment experience by incorporating an indoor go-kart track, offering adrenaline-fueled fun for guests of all ages. These additions marked the first steps towards transforming Atlantic City into a multifaceted destination.

The Island Waterpark at Showboat Atlantic City is an impressive realization of Blatstein’s unwavering commitment to diversifying Atlantic City’s offerings.

Spanning a remarkable 120,000 square feet, this year-round indoor waterpark promises an immersive experience like no other. Boasting over a dozen slides, a 1,000-square-foot surf simulator, and a sprawling 6,500-square-foot lazy river, the Island Waterpark caters to thrill-seekers and relaxation enthusiasts alike.

The park’s attention to detail extends beyond the aquatic attractions, as it features a range of amenities including food and beverage options, inviting lounge areas, and party rooms perfect for celebrations. For those seeking a serene retreat, an adult-only zone ensures a tranquil oasis within the bustling waterpark.

One standout feature of the Island Waterpark is its state-of-the-art retractable glass-pane roof, which will envelop the entire property during the winter months.

This engineering marvel not only ensures a comfortable year-round experience for visitors but also showcases Blatstein’s commitment to sustainability by providing a climate-controlled environment while minimizing energy consumption.

Regardless of the season, guests can revel in the excitement of the waterpark, making it a must-visit destination throughout the year.

Since the Wildwood Video Archive was able to view this new park first-hand, we can tell you that this place is amazing and larger than what is seen in our drone videos.

Upon entering the building you are greeted with a massive waterfall which divides the property. Left leads you to the ‘boardwalk’ which you can shop, grab some food, visit the locker room or check out the main bar.

Moving right and your first stop could be some of the massive slides, the FloRider or the Lazy River.

The main feature of the park is the Island itself. The only way to get there is by taking a bridge. Once there you can explore a water attraction not seen anywhere else.

As you move right of the island there are a few more slides to check out before you will want to start the slide list over again.

With the grand opening of Showboat’s Island Waterpark on the horizon, Atlantic City eagerly awaits the influx of families seeking unforgettable experiences. Bart Blatstein’s vision for transforming Atlantic City from a gambling-centric destination to a diverse entertainment hub is becoming a reality.

The Island Waterpark is set to redefine the city’s landscape, offering a unique blend of exhilaration and relaxation against the backdrop of Atlantic City’s iconic beaches. As families flock to this remarkable attraction, Atlantic City is poised to reclaim its status as a premier vacation destination, where gaming, entertainment, and unforgettable memories converge.
