First Look – La Cantina Wildwood

Exciting changes are coming to the Wildwood dining scene! Construction is about to kick off for La Cantina, the island’s newest Mex-Tex restaurant.

Set to transform the iconic Hurricane Night Club building, La Cantina will bring a vibrant mix of tropical and vintage decor to complement its menu of classic Mexican dishes. Expect fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, margaritas, and more, all served with a fresh and modern twist.

The Hurricane Night Club building has been sitting empty for a few years now as everything around it has been knocked down and or renovated.

This part of the island, which on the block of Pacific and Schellenger Aves, has been going through a transformation.

In the past five years, we have seen almost every building on this block demolished for something. This list includes MT Bottles, 2nd Street Annies, the Fairway, Neil’s Steak House, The Stardust Nightclub, and the Harbor Inn Bar.

Those lots became a combination of things such as the Seaport Suites, the Sandy Boots Saloon (still under construction), and an array of parking lots.

It was just recently that the new owners had purchased the Hurricane Night Club to change it. The new owners, by the way, are the same people who bring you other amazing restaurants on the island such as Santorini and Venezia.

The new owners have big plans to renovate the building with glass garage doors, lush greenery, and an atmosphere designed to make every visit feel like a celebration.

This can be seen in the mock-up photos that were sent to us exclusively.

On the exterior of the building, the owners are looking to keep the shape of the facade but add in tons of windows and doors to bring in nature light.

In its current configuration, there are no windows in the Hurricane Night Club. This would draw people into the exciting atmosphere inside.

The interior design will feature a vibrant blend of colors, with bold patterns, vibrant accents, and earthy tones coming together to create a lively yet harmonious space.

Warm, ambient lighting will enhance the atmosphere, while greenery draped from the ceiling and walls adds a tropical flair.

The combination of these elements will create a cozy yet dynamic setting that feels like an escape to paradise.

From the intricate tile flooring to the festive string lights, every detail is carefully curated to immerse visitors in a fun and inviting environment.

Expect this same energy to shine through in Wildwood’s own La Cantina, as the renovation of the iconic Hurricane Night Club is only half of what is happening here.

Besides the renovations, La Cantina will have DJ nights, live music, and Latin-themed evenings, making La Cantina not just a restaurant but a destination for entertainment and nightlife.

Seeing everything the owners have done over at Santorini and Venezia, we know that this place will be top notch with amazing food.

They plan to have a grand opening date in Spring (possibly in March)
