FIRST LOOK – The Vibes Hotel Wildwood

There is a new Wildwood hotel gearing up to become one of your new favorite places to stay in Wildwood.

Reports from the Wildwood Video Archive in November revealed the sale of two motels at the heart of Wildwoods, namely Binns Motor Inn and Bonito Motel, located at 244 E Spicer Ave and 236 E Spicer Ave.

Public records show that the properties changed hands for a combined total of $4.58 million. Howard Lawrence D, the previous owner, successfully closed the deal, with each property fetching $2,290,000.

Binns Motor Inn, a classic from the mid-1940s, was built by the Binns sisters, while Bonito Motel, constructed in 1964, is a standout from the Doo-Wop era.

Contrary to speculations of condominium development, the new owners, also behind The Waves Motel and Tropicana just a short distance away, have big plans for the newly acquired spots. The two motels are being rebranded as “The Vibes,” to infuse a blend of nostalgia and modern comfort.

Investing millions into the renovation, the owners are stripping down the existing structures, upgrading every aspect, and introducing top-notch furniture and amenities.

The transformation, which as been in progress for the past few months, has already seen the rooms gutted, a new roof laid and new windows installed.

When it comes to Doo-Wop in Wildwood, we have seen a bit of change in accommodations. People want to stay in Doo-Wop motels but they want to have a modern furniture and amenities. That is what The Vibes will be like.

In sneak peek images shared with us, we get a glimpse of what The Vibes will look like both inside and out once construction wraps up.

The Binns building’s exterior is undergoing a major transformation, adopting a Mid-century Modern vibe that’s a departure from its current appearance.

Crews have already taken down “The Binns” sign to make way for a Modern/Blast Off roof, a feature commonly associated with Doo-wop architecture prevalent on the island. A similar roof style can be spotted on the Madison Resorts’ lobby building.

Outside, expect to see new balconies, a first for the Binns, along with a covered patio area. The building’s accent color is set to be a vibrant yellow, complementing the Doo-Wop features and echoing the same color scheme for the Bonito section of the resort.

Not just stopping at the exterior, the pool area is in for a substantial facelift to match the new theme.

But that’s only part of the exciting changes. Accommodations at The Vibes will cater to various needs, offering room options from queens to spacious suites suitable for the whole family.

The rooms will continue the Mid-century Modern aesthetic, featuring top-notch furniture. With different room sizes available, The Vibes aims to be the go-to spot for families of all sizes.

Crews are planning to have The Vibes open for summer 2024 so stay tuned for more details.

A significant metamorphosis is sweeping through this part of Wildwoods.

Just a block to the north, the Ocean Sands motel has been razed to pave the way for a fresh addition: “The Point,” a Tiki Bar. Moving over to the next block, the Boardwalk Mall has undergone a complete overhaul, leaving room for an undisclosed business venture.

Simultaneously, the Wildwood Boardwalk is in the midst of a renovation project, while on Pacific Avenue, the former Shamrock Beef & Ale spot is set to host the construction of new condominiums.

Come summer 2024, this section of Wildwood will vibrate, making The Vibes the perfect place to stay.

The Vibes resort is poised to become a hot spot in Wildwood, promising a fresh take on accommodation that combines a nod to the past with contemporary conveniences.
