Former Windward Motel Reopens as the New Isla Motel in Wildwood
For the past five years, one of the biggest questions I’ve received has been, “Joey, what is going on with the old Windward Motel?”
Well, we finally have an answer.
The former Windward Motel, located on the corner of Ocean and Bennett Avenues in Wildwood has officially been transformed into the brand-new Isla Motel, and after everything this property has been through, the difference is incredible.
The Wildwood Video Archive got a first look at the motel and filmed a full video. Scroll to the bottom for the video.

Former Windward Motel Reopens as the New Isla Motel in Wildwood
If you remember, more than five years ago, a major fire ripped through the motel and heavily damaged a large portion of the building.
For years after that, the property honestly didn’t look good. It sat behind fencing while people wondered what was eventually going to happen to it.
Now, you would barely recognize the place.
MW of Wildwood took on the project and gutted the entire motel. We’re talking new plumbing, new room layouts, new bathrooms, kitchens, furniture, amenities and a completely different look inside and outside.
And instead of simply rebuilding what was there before, they decided to do something a little different.
The rooms are designed so that you can almost customize them depending on how many people are coming on vacation with you.
You can rent a standard motel room if it’s just two people, or you can get one of the larger suites with a kitchen, living room and multiple bedrooms. Some of those suites also connect to another standard room next door.
So, if you have another couple coming with you, grandparents joining the vacation or just a really big family, you can add that room and keep everyone together.
They even have rooms specifically designed with kids in mind, including bunk beds and additional pull-out beds.
The kitchens are also pretty impressive. They include refrigerators, stoves, ovens and even dishwashers. If you’re staying for a week and don’t want to eat out for every single meal, you can actually cook right in your room.
They also have ADA-accessible accommodations, including a room with a roll-in shower.
But there’s another detail about the Isla Motel that I think is really interesting.
They’re going to be open year-round.
That’s something we’re starting to see more of here in the Wildwoods.
For decades, this has primarily been a summer destination where many motels close once the season ends. But as more events and businesses continue operating into the shoulder season and winter months, having more year-round places to stay is becoming increasingly important.
And the Isla Motel will now be one of those options.
They’re putting the finishing touches on the property now and are expected to begin accepting bookings soon.
After watching this building sit damaged for so many years, it’s honestly great to finally see something happening here.
The old Windward Motel is officially gone, the Isla Motel has taken its place, and one of Wildwood’s most noticeable damaged properties has finally been brought back to life.
