Harbor View to Become Port Cape May

Harbor View to Become Port Cape May

Last week it was announced that the Harbor View, located at 954 Ocean Drive in Cape May was sold.

The announcement came from the owner who took to Facebook to say;

“It started approximately 30 years ago when I purchased what was to be Harbor View Marina. There was nothing here but I had a plan. I was going to fix the place up and bring my two Party Boats here! I started the tackle shop and Marina. Then I needed a place to feed my Party Boat customers so I built a Restaurant. Then came the Deck Bar. Harbor View was born! With a lot of sadness tomorrow Saturday, March 2nd will be our last day!”

The statement continued by thanking all of their customers and dedicated employees and needed by saying, “Thanks again to all, and best of luck to the new owners”

This came as a shock to folks as the Harbor View has become their go-to place for some amazing food, drinks, and live entertainment.

Here at the Wildwood Video Archive, this place was more than a restaurant, it was some awesome history.

For those who don’t know, the main restaurant was built above a sunken ship.

This is something that the WVA documented a few years back in a video which you can see at the bottom of this article.

As the message said, new owners were expected to take over but no one had a clue on who it could be.

A search of the LLC that had purchased the Harbor View Marina was traced back to the owners of Taco Caballito Tequileria located in Cape May.

There wasn’t any other information about the sale until today.

The same social media accounts that were for the Harbor View had changed overnight to become “Port Cape May.” It was later on in the day that a new video appeared from the owners of the Taco Caballito, Ross and Lauren, announcing the new name and venue.

While they didn’t give much away, all we know is that the restaurant will be re-themed to Port Cape May.

We were then introduced to a new website where the only thing on it besides “coming soon” was a minute-long video.

In the video, Ross says that Fred and Irene did an amazing job running Harbor View for the past few years and thanked them for allowing him to take over the space. They are dreaming up something big that we are sure everyone is going to love

While there isn’t a date on when they will officially open, all that was teased was “summer 2024.”

We wish Ross, Lauren and the team the best of luck with Port Cape May!
