Currently Hurricane Laura is strengthening back up to possible category 3 hurricane. A category 3 hurricane puts out wind gusts of 111-129 mph.
Hurricane Laura Could Hill NJ This Week
Hurricane Laura is expected to make landfall on the northwest Gulf coast late Wednesday night. While the hurricane is quite far away it could still impact us here in the Tri-State area.
The projected path of Hurricane Laura shows it coming through Delaware and touching South Jersey.
According To the Mount Holly Weather Service, “considerable uncertainty remains into what effects Laura will have on our weather Saturday, but it is becoming increasingly likely that we will at least see moderate to heavy rain ahead of this front in the form of pretty widespread showers and thunderstorms.”
When it comes to rain totals they say “it is too early to talk about rainfall amounts at this time but there may be some flash flood potential if several inches of rainfall does occur across the already saturated portions of southeastern PA and South Jersey”
The biggest question that is still up in the air is whether Laura will have transitioned to a tropical storm or depression by the time it hits up.
Lucky for us it is not predicted to bring heady wind to our area like Isaias did a few weeks ago.
For those who don’t know, Isaias brought a few tornados to our area. The closed one we saw was in Marmora New Jersey.
We took a tour of the damage via drone. Check out the video below
