John’s Water Ice Opens New Location on Wildwood Boardwalk
John’s Water Ice, the legendary Philly spot known for its old-school Italian ice, has officially opened a brand-new location right on the Wildwood boardwalk!
If you’re from the Philly area, there’s a good chance you already know the name.

John’s Water Ice Opens New Location on Wildwood Boardwalk
John’s has been scooping out refreshing water ice from its South Philly location since 1945. In hot summers, like we are experiencing right now, you can see a massive line of people waiting in line to get something cold to cool down.
And now, for the first time ever, they’re bringing that same iconic flavor down the shore.
You’ll find them at 20th on the boardwalk, perfectly placed for a sweet treat after a day at the beach or between rides at Morey’s Piers.
The Wildwood shop is a walk-up window setup but also they included an entire candy section.
And yes, they’ve brought all the classics with them: lemon, cherry, chocolate, and mango, along with soft serve ice cream and their fan-favorite gelatis (that’s a layer of water ice with creamy soft serve on top). A real Philly summer staple.
Now, this isn’t just your average water ice stand.
What makes John’s so popular is how it’s made. Real fruit, real sugar, no syrups or powders, and the same recipe they’ve used for nearly 80 years.
It’s the kind of treat that generations of families have grown up with, and now you can grab it right here at the Jersey Shore.

And yes, for those asking, they do make all of the water ice right here on the boardwalk.
This Wildwood location is actually a pretty big deal for the company.
For decades, John’s has only operated out of their one South Philly shop, and recently they opened one in Huntingdon Valley, PA, so opening this third location is a rare expansion.
And honestly, it makes perfect sense. How many Philly families head to Wildwood every summer? Tons.
This new shop is already drawing in loyal fans and new customers who want something different from the usual boardwalk soft serve.
If you’re heading down this summer, definitely swing by and give them a try.
Hours vary a bit depending on the day and weather, but they’re scooping daily all summer long.
A true Philly classic now served with an ocean view. We love to see it.
