Netflix Breaks Ground on $900 Million Studios in New Jersey
Netflix has officially begun construction on a massive $900 million film and television production campus at the former Fort Monmouth Army base, marking a major expansion of the streaming giant’s footprint on the East Coast.
The project, named Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth, will transform nearly 300 acres of long-abandoned military land in Eatontown and Oceanport into a world-class production facility.

The development will feature 12 soundstages, expansive backlot areas, post-production suites, and corporate offices, spanning a total of 500,000 square feet.

The initiative is expected to deliver a major economic boost to the region. With construction and production operations underway, the project is projected to generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity across New Jersey.
State officials also anticipate long-term cultural and tourism benefits as the site becomes a hub for high-profile productions.

A key factor in securing Netflix’s investment was New Jersey’s competitive tax credit program for film and digital media projects.
The state is supporting the Fort Monmouth campus with $387 million in tax credits, making use of incentives that offer up to 35% back on production costs and up to 40% on digital post-production.
These financial tools have become increasingly important in attracting studios looking to cut costs while maintaining high production quality.
The decision to build in New Jersey reflects a broader shift in the entertainment industry.
With rising expenses in California, more studios are relocating productions to more cost-effective locations, including Georgia, the United Kingdom, and now, the Garden State.
Netflix’s commitment positions New Jersey as a serious contender in the race to become a national hub for film and television.
The state has extended its film tax incentives through 2039, aiming to create a sustainable foundation for long-term growth in the entertainment sector.
