Downtown Wildwood is getting a boost just in time for the busy summer months, with plans now in place for a brand new public parking lot that will add approximately 70 spaces in a key area of the city.

According to a press release from the Wildwood Business Improvement District, the new lot will be located at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Schellenger Avenue, a site many visitors will recognize as the current home of the seasonal Farmers Market.

The parking area will operate through ParkMobile, giving visitors an easy, app-based way to pay for parking while exploring the downtown shopping and dining district. Officials say the move is part of a broader effort to improve accessibility and make it easier for both tourists and locals to navigate the area.

Supporting Businesses Along Pacific Avenue

The project is being developed in partnership with Crest Savings Bank and is expected to play a key role in driving additional foot traffic to nearby businesses, particularly along Pacific Avenue.

With summer crowds continuing to grow year after year, parking has become one of the biggest challenges in Downtown Wildwood. The addition of 70 new spaces is expected to help ease congestion and provide more convenient access to restaurants, shops, and attractions in the district.

WBID Board President John Donio emphasized the importance of the project, noting that expanding parking options is critical to supporting the local economy and improving the overall visitor experience.

Farmers Market to Continue as Scheduled

Even with the addition of the new parking lot, the popular Downtown Wildwood Farmers Market is not going anywhere. The weekly event will continue to operate.

Downtown Wildwood’s Farmers Market has become one of the must-visit summer traditions in the city, bringing a steady flow of locals and tourists to the Pacific Avenue corridor every weekend.

Held at Byrne Plaza, the market runs Saturday mornings from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend and features a mix of fresh produce, baked goods, specialty foods, handmade crafts, and local vendors.

Beyond shopping, it creates a lively atmosphere with live music, family-friendly activities, and a strong community feel that reflects the heart of Wildwood.

The market not only gives visitors another reason to explore downtown, but also plays a key role in supporting small businesses and boosting foot traffic to nearby shops and restaurants.

Opening Timeline

WBID officials say the lot is expected to be ready for public use in time for the upcoming summer season, though an exact opening date has not yet been announced.

As Wildwood continues to see increased visitation, projects like this highlight the city’s ongoing push to modernize infrastructure while supporting its core downtown business district.

For anyone heading into town this summer, finding a parking spot just got a little easier.
