A new event venue is officially coming to the Wildwood Boardwalk.

On July 15th, The North Wildwood Planning Board has approved plans for The Pelican at Montego Bay, a new 200-seat private event venue that will be built on the grounds of the Montego Bay Resort at 1700-1710 Boardwalk.

Along with the approval, we finally got the first architectural renderings, giving us a look at what is expected to become one of the newest additions to the Boardwalk.

The project will serve as an accessory use to the existing Montego Bay Resort and is designed to host weddings, corporate retreats, family reunions, holiday parties and other private events.

It will be located next to Montego Bay on their 17th street side where they currently have a parking lot. And no, the Tides Oceanview Condos are not being touched for this project.

The newly released renderings show a striking two-story coastal-style building elevated above ground-level parking. The design features expansive covered porches on both floors, large windows, white clapboard siding, a standing-seam metal roof and a traditional cupola, giving the building a timeless Jersey Shore appearance.

The venue will operate under its own name, The Pelican, while remaining part of the Montego Bay family of properties.

According to the project’s newly launched website, The Pelican was inspired by a simple vision: creating a place where people can celebrate life’s biggest moments.

“The Pelican at Montego Bay was born from a simple idea: create a place where people come together to celebrate the moments they’ll remember forever,” the owners write.

The family-owned business says the venue is being designed with hospitality at the center of every detail, from the arrival experience to the final dance of the evening.

“Our vision is to offer a one-of-a-kind private event venue that blends timeless coastal design with genuine hospitality,” the website states. “Whether you’re celebrating a wedding, hosting a corporate retreat, or gathering with the people who matter most, we want The Pelican to be a place where memories are made and traditions begin.”

The owners also describe the project as more than just another building.

“This is more than our next project, it’s the next chapter for our family, our team, and our community. We can’t wait to welcome you through our doors in 2027.”

For North Wildwood, the approval represents another investment in the Boardwalk’s future. While the city has seen several redevelopment projects in recent years, The Pelican is unique in that it is specifically designed as a dedicated private event venue.

Its 200-person capacity could help attract weddings, conferences and special events throughout the year, providing additional business during the shoulder and off-season months while complementing the resort’s existing hotel operations.

The renderings online for the inside mostly look like concept renderings. As soon as we have the confirmed renderings we will update this article.

With Planning Board approval now secured and the first renderings made public, construction is expected to move forward, with The Pelican at Montego Bay scheduled to open in 2027.
