The City of Wildwood made an announcement just a few hours prior so folks ran up to check out the new boardwalk.

The project wasn’t fully completed as some sections still needed their lights, railings and bike stand, which should be coming in a few weeks.

The Wildwood Video Archive stopped by on opening day to film a few videos showing the amazing work that Fred Schiavone and his team have done.

The first video was more of a vlog while this one is a drone tour video. To watch it scroll down to the bottom of this article.

For those closely tracking the project’s progress, the latest developments mark the continuation of a journey that began back in 2021.

Phase 1 commenced with the revitalization of the segment from Oak to Maple Avenues, succeeded by Phase 2, which extended the makeover to 26th Street.

Phase 3 focused on rehabilitating the boardwalk from Oak Avenue to Schellenger Avenue.

Notably, this segment, introduced in 2015, underwent meticulous restoration, involving the replacement of damaged decking and framing, exemplified by the repair work near Hot Spot.

Phase 4 centered on the Cedar Avenue Connector, ushering in a complete overhaul of the boardwalk and its infrastructure.

This section introduced modern amenities like archway signs, railings, bike racks, and light poles, elevating the boardwalk’s allure.

While Phase 4 remains a work in progress, Phase 5 is underway, mirroring the meticulous processes observed in earlier phases.

This phase encompasses the removal of concrete tram pads, structural enhancements, and the installation of a pristine surface.

The hopes are that starting this fall we can see sections from Spicer Ave to the convention under construction, but no word on that as of yet.

With each phase, the Wildwood Boardwalk reconstruction project not only revitalizes a beloved landmark but also enhances the visitor experience, promising an exciting future for Wildwood’s iconic promenade.
