Back in November of 2022, the Wildwood Video Archive broke the news that a new hotel would be coming to the Wildwood Boardwalk in 2025.

Fast forward to now, and we are finally starting to see some progress on it.

Those who walked on the boardwalk past 3000 Boardwalk, aka Glenwood and the boardwalk, may have noticed a massive poster.

Standing over two stories tall (from the second floor to the third floor) hangs a banner of the new proposed hotel with the words “Coming 2025.”

This new hotel will be called “The Wild Resort” and will be unlike anything we have ever seen on the boardwalk.

Before we talk about its future, let’s talk about its past.

This block of the boardwalk has been known to be an eyesore.

Back in 2008, this hotel was undergoing massive renovations that would see the top two floors refurbished, but after work got underway, the economy crashed.

It happened at a bad time, as crews had just painted the outside of the building an ugly yellow.

The owners lost funding, so they stopped work on the top floors and continued renting out the bottom shops.

Fast forward to 2020, and the abandoned hotel was falling apart and condemned by the city.

The building had fallen into such disarray that when it rained, water was moving through the hotel into the shops below.

In 2021, the building was put up for sale, and the yellow paint was replaced with a fresh coat of grey.

The listing said, “The Existing 3 Story Structure With 15,000 SF Floor Plates is Located in the BA – Boardwalk Amusement Zoning, Which Allows For Maximum Flexibility in Use, Including Retail and Hotels Up To 6 Stories.”

It eventually sold for a whopping $6,200,000. While this might sound like a lot, it really isn’t in terms of how much money would need to be put into the building to bring it back to life.

The new owners wanted to turn this into a top-of-the-line hotel. The application called for the entire facade of the boardwalk section to go through renovations to include a hotel lobby and cafe on the boardwalk.

This cafe, which you see in the blueprints, is the new home for Starbucks. We stopped by to see what that looks like just this week. Click here to see those photos.

The building itself will see two more floors added with suites featuring private pools and a restaurant that can hold up to 150 people.

The Wildwood Video Archive will be sure to bring you all the updates as this building becomes “The Wild Hotel.”

Back in November 2022, we did a video tour of what the building will look like along with their blueprints. you can watch that video below. Please do subscribe though has we try to hit 100,000 subscribers (only 4.450 away)
