The Wildwood Video Archive toured the new Gold Star Families Memorial Monument a few months back. you can see that tour at the bottom of this article.
The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument stands as a tribute to the loved ones of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States.
The monument’s pillars symbolize not only the dedication of the brave men and women who served but also the enduring strength of the families and communities who supported them.
North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello emphasized the importance of remembering both the fallen and their families, stating, “While we must never forget the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the survival of liberty and freedom of this great nation, we must also never forget those Gold Star Families that supported and grieved their fallen loved ones. We are honored to be able to dedicate the beautiful Gold Star Monument and the renovated Veteran’s Park to those courageous families. It will serve as a great reminder to all why we celebrate our Veterans each day.”
The dedication ceremony also marks the official reopening of the renovated North Wildwood Veterans Memorial Park.
This project represents Phase 1 of the city’s ongoing Gateway Enhancement Project, funded through a collaboration between the North Wildwood Veterans Committee, the Run to Remember, the Woody Williams Foundation, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Cape May County Open Space Program, and the City of North Wildwood.
Phase 2, which doesn’t have a start date yet, involves fixing up the empty lot across from the new park. This used to be home to the Triangle restaurant and Nino’s restaurant.
That new park will feature a welcome tower along with a fountain, benches, plants and more. To learn more about that project click the link below.
