Power Outage in the Wildwoods – Estimated Times of Restoration

The Wildwood area is currently experiencing a power outage, and efforts are underway to restore electricity as quickly and safely as possible. According to the latest information available, more than 80% of all customers, including the Wildwood Boardwalk, are expected to have power restored by 7 p.m. today.

The remaining customers should have their power restored by 9 p.m. this evening, weather permitting. These estimates are subject to change, and updates will be provided as they become available.

The safety of customers, the community, emergency responders, and utility employees is the top priority during the restoration process. Crews are working diligently to address the power outage and ensure that every customer has electric service.

AC Electric, in coordination with local authorities and Governor Murphy’s team, is actively involved in resolving the situation.

This will provide you with the most current and accurate information regarding the outage and restoration progress.

In light of the power outage, cooling centers have been set up at the Wildwood Rec Center and the North Wildwood Community Center. These centers offer a respite from the heat and provide a safe environment for residents.

Additionally, if you are experiencing a health and safety emergency, please remember to dial 911 for immediate assistance.

Efforts are also underway to provide assistance to those affected by the power outage. The Mayor of Wildwood, Pete Byron, is in contact with Governor Murphy’s team and AC Electric to address the situation.

It is reported that 80% of customers should have their power restored by 7 p.m., with the remaining customers expected to have power by 9 p.m., weather permitting.

Furthermore, the Lazarus House Food Bank will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday to provide support to those in need. The NAACP and local pastors are also seeking additional assistance to help affected individuals.

Mayor Byron is exploring options to provide higher assistance to those facing financial losses due to the outage.

In terms of infrastructure support, four Cat generators have arrived at the Leaming Ave pump station around 3 p.m. These generators are expected to provide a significant amount of power, potentially alleviating the ongoing outages in the area.

It’s important to exercise caution while AC Electric trucks are working on Susquehanna and throughout the City of Wildwood. The utility crews are actively addressing the issue and working to restore power.

As a result of the power outage, Morey’s Piers has closed for the day. Their social media post states that all facilities are closed for the evening, with the hope of resuming normal operations on the following day.

Despite restoration efforts, several restaurants and stores in the area are still without power. Establishments like Cool Scoops and Little Nickys (off-boardwalk locations) are among those affected. Remember that these are OUR local businesses and need as much support as possible, especially after the situation is over.

It is recommended to contact restaurants in advance before visiting to confirm if they are operating.

The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided through official channels and the city’s website. The Wildwood community is encouraged to remain patient while the restoration process continues. Efforts are being made to restore power as quickly as possible, and the cooperation and understanding of residents and visitors are greatly appreciated during this time.

As a reminder, fireworks have been postponed until Sunday at 9 pm. This is of course if power has been restored to the island.
