Spirit Halloween Cancels Egg Harbor Township Grand Opening Amid Supply Chain Disruptions

Spirit Halloween, the seasonal retailer known for its thrilling in-store experiences and massive Halloween selection, has announced the cancellation of its highly anticipated grand opening event in Egg Harbor Township.

The company cited international disruptions and ongoing supply chain challenges as the reason for the change in plans.

In case you didn’t know, Spirit Halloween is based right here in New Jersey, with its headquarters located in Egg Harbor Township.

The company is operated by its parent brand, Spencer’s–yes, that Spencer’s–from their main office at 6826 Black Horse Pike.

Spirit Halloween operates its flagship store just down in the street in Harbor Square Shopping Center to showcase its new costumes and props. To get the ball rolling and to kick off the official opening of their stores, the company hosts a massive Halloween celebration.

Last year, the event kicked off on August 1st and featured family-friendly games, prizes, entertainment, and food from local vendors. Thousands attended to join in the fun, and for many, it became a cherished annual tradition.

But according to their official Facebook page, this event has been cancelled.

In an official statement, Spirit Halloween shared, “Our teams have been working around the clock to bring back the ultimate Spirit Halloween experience. Unfortunately, international disruptions and supply chain challenges have thrown a wrench in our opening plans. As a result, we are forced to cancel the Egg Harbor Township grand opening event – but we intend to bring this event back next year.”

Despite the setback, Spirit Halloween said that the 2025 season is still moving full speed ahead.

Spirit Halloween reassured customers that the Halloween spirit is still alive and well: “The engines are on, and we’re full speed ahead. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come.”

The company is on track to open over 1,500 locations nationwide, with stores beginning to open their doors in mid-August.
