Surfside West To Become CrestWood Diner

Surfside West To Become CrestWood

Just a week ago, the Surfside West, announced a major change—its longtime owners have decided to retire.

For years, this classic breakfast and lunch spot has been a favorite among locals and visitors alike, known for its comforting meals and warm atmosphere. However, while this marks the end of an era, it’s not the end of the location itself. Instead, it’s getting a fresh start under new ownership and a brand-new identity.

The new restaurant, Crest Wood Diner, will carry on the tradition of serving up delicious breakfast and lunch dishes while introducing an updated menu and a few exciting changes.

Though Surfside West is no more, its spirit will live on, ensuring that loyal patrons can continue to enjoy a familiar dining experience under a new name.

Even better, Crest Wood Diner will be run by a trusted local establishment, ensuring that the legacy of quality food and excellent service remains intact.

For those unfamiliar with the faces behind the grill, Surfside West’s Michael has been crafting the breakfast and lunch favorites that customers have loved over the years.

A heartfelt farewell post on the Surfside West Facebook page went on to say “after 22 years at this location and many years before at the original SurfSide,  it’s time to move on to the next phase of our lives.”

Michael reassured followers that many of the current staff members have been given the opportunity to stay on with the new owners if they choose.

This means that while the restaurant is evolving, guests will still see many familiar faces when they walk through the doors.

Today, we are excited to announce that the new owners of Crest Wood Diner are none other than Lou and Olga from Sun’z Up Cafe!

Located at 6708 New Jersey Avenue, Sun’z Up Cafe has been a staple in Wildwood Crest for the past decade.

This summer actually marks their 10-year anniversary, and their deep-rooted connection to the community makes them the perfect choice to take over this beloved spot.

In a recent post on their Facebook page, they expressed their gratitude to their loyal customers, saying, “We want to thank you for all your support and love in helping us achieve our success over the past 10 years!! Looking forward to the many more years to come!! Couldn’t have done it without you!!”

As they take the reins at 5308 New Jersey Avenue, Lou and Olga are bringing their passion for fresh, high-quality ingredients to Crest Wood Diner. The new menu will feature a variety of breakfast and lunch options, including creative Benedicts, hearty breakfast specials, and the same amazing pancake batter that Sun’z Up Cafe is known for.

Additionally, their commitment to quality means that the high-end meats and freshly squeezed orange juice and amazing food options will be making their way onto the Crest WoodDiner  menu as well.

For those asking, Sun’z Up Cafe will not be going anywhere. Between the both of them, they will be running both restaurants.

But the changes don’t stop there. After Memorial Day, Crest Wood Diner will be expanding its offerings to include dinner service.

The dinner menu will blend traditional diner classics with fresh seafood dishes, providing a well-rounded selection to cater to both long-time fans and new customers.

To accommodate these new additions, Crest Wood Diner will maintain its early morning breakfast hours from 6 AM to 1 PM while also introducing dinner hours from 5 PM to 9 PM.

Luckily we won’t need to wait too long to try out the new menu. They should be opening up this Spring.

As a fun final fact, Lou shared the inspiration behind the name Crest Wood Diner, and it’s quite clever. The restaurant is located at a point where Wildwood ends and Wildwood Crest begins—hence the name, Crest-Wood, symbolizing the blending of both areas into one exciting new dining experience.

With a mix of nostalgia and innovation, Crest Wood Diner is set to become an exciting new chapter in Wildwood’s dining scene.
