The Grassy Sound Fishing Pier Is Finally OPEN After Years! – Tour Video
After nearly three years of closure, the Grassy Sound Fishing Pier has officially reopened and it’s better than ever.
Over the past few months, the Wildwood Video Archive has been covering the reconstruction of this bridge/pier.
Located just off Old North Wildwood Boulevard, the pier has long been a favorite spot for locals and tourists looking to fish, crab, or simply enjoy the peaceful marsh views.
Originally built on the remnants of the old Grassy Sound Bridge, the wooden structure had served generations before time and tide took their toll. And yes, this was the old rickety bridge you remember driving down as a kid.
Structural concerns forced its closure in 2022, leaving one of the best fishing spots off the island out of commission.

The project involved a complete teardown and rebuild of the structure, along with major improvements including ADA-compliant access ramps, enhanced lighting, new signage, a replacement bulkhead, and expanded parking.

But it was more than just that.

And best of all, access remains completely free and open 24/7. That’s right! It is now FREE.
The grand reopening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with county and township officials. The pier is now maintained by Middle Township through a shared-services agreement, ensuring that it remains clean, safe, and welcoming for future generations.

Our only recommendation is that they install some shade because boy it can get hot!

If you’re visiting the Wildwoods this season, be sure to make a stop.
Whether you’re hoping to catch your dinner or just take in a sunset over the marsh, the new Grassy Sound Fishing Pier offers the perfect backdrop.
