Wildwood Boardwalk ICON Passes – Sam Spera
There is some extremely sad news coming out of North Wildwood today.
Sam Spera, the founder of Sam’s Pizza, has passed at the age of 92. The news comes from a Facebook post on the Sam’s Pizza Palace page.
Mr. Spera really truly lived what you call the “American Dream.”
In describing Spera’s life story
they go on to say;
“Sam moved to America from Villalba, Sicily in 1951. His goal of building a business to support his family resulted in something much bigger than he could have envisioned. At Sam’s Pizza Palace, Sam devoted his life to serving generations of customers, and developed a local reputation of nearly 65 years.”
For generations Mr. Spera has brought such amazing memories to families from across the world because Sam’s Pizza is more than just a pizza place. What Mr. Spera had built is a memory maker. Families have made Sam’s it the go-to spot when they are on vacation (just as you would try to get dining reservations at “Be Our Guest” in Disney World.”
We at the Wildwood Video Archive are extremely sad to hear about Mr Spera’s passing and send much love and prayers to Tony and the family.
In honor of Mr. Spera, Sam’s Pizza will be open today because as the post says “Sam wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
