As announced back in April, stage two, Maple Ave to 26th street, will begin after the end of the shoulder season on October 3rd.

Wildwood is preparing for the next section by posting a public notice online for all bidders.

The notice goes on to say,

“The Scope of work for this Contract includes the rehabilitation of the Wildwood Boardwalk from Maple Avenue to 26th Street. The rehabilitation work consists of the removal and replacement of the existing timber portions of the existing boardwalk; the removal and replacement of the existing boardwalk railings; the removal of the existing concrete trolley slabs and beams; the repair of the existing concrete substructure; the installation of new concrete beams as part of the substructure; reconstruction of existing timber boardwalk outcrops and installation of new timber stairs.”

It basically is calling for a company that is able to reproduce what was done with the first phase (Maple to Oak ave). Awarding of the Contract is anticipated for July 7, 2022, with Notice to Proceed anticipated to be awarded by July 21, 2022.

One BIG date to circle on your calendar is May 3rd, 2023. This is the date that the city will give the contractor as the project’s end date.

This means that the contractor will have seven months to tear down the boardwalk, repair the concrete, and build the boards.

For those seven months, we will be covering the full project from start to finish.

Keep in mind that this is a five-stage project. For the next few years, we will have you covered!
