Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol Announces Late Season Coverage

Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol Announces Late Season Coverage

We hate to say it but the end of summer is around the corner. As we inch closer and closer to Labor Day weekend, the feeling that the end of summer has already started to hit us on the island.

This is the time of year when our local beach patrols start announcing their late-season coverage. Late-season coverage means that the lifeguard hours and days will start to be reduced (aka fewer days that the beaches will be guarded).

The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol was the first one to publicly post their end-of-the-season schedule.

As a reminder, only swim in front of a lifeguard. As we head into the fall and further into hurricane season, our currents pick up. These storms create different currents that cause rip currents. Keep an eye on the patrol schedule and play it safe.

Below is their press release.

Press Release

The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol has announced its late-season beach coverage for 2022.

All beaches will be open and protected by lifeguards, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day), and on the weekend following Labor Day (Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11).

Due to limited available staff, seven beaches will be protected by lifeguards from Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 9. Those beaches include Buttercup-Lavender, Sweetbriar-Wisteria, Palm-Lotus, Stockton-Stanton, Miami-Monterey, Preston-Hollywood and Trenton-Newark.

Full lifeguard coverage for the 2022 season will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 11. A response team will be available for emergency calls from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends of Sept. 17-18 and Sept. 24-25.

Transport service for the handicapped will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Sunday, Sept. 11.

The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol strongly advises all bathers to swim at lifeguard-protected beaches and only during the hours of operation.
