Wildwoods Construction Update – March 2024

For this video, we will start in North Wildwood and make our way through Wildwood Crest to finish at the new Madison Resorts.

Since winter was quite mild down at the shore, many of these projects have been moving faster than anticipated.

North Wildwood’s Gateway Entrance and Gold Star Memorial

The North Wildwood’s Gateway Entrance and Gold Star Memorial is finally under way. Construction crews have installed fencing and commenced excavation work north of Spruce Avenue, while the section south of Spruce remains untouched.

The Gold Star Memorial Monument pays tribute to the sacrifices made by Gold Star Families who lost a loved one in military service to the United States of America. This memorial would be the first of its kind in the state of New Jersey

This part of the project should be completed by May of this year with phase II beginning at a later date.

North Wildwood Bulkhead Update

The biggest concern people have is the bulkheads that the city had asked for permission to build between the 12th and 15th At this time, there is no approval but North Wildwood does have a pending appeal.

There have been multiple breaches of the dune on 12th street, which will leave nothing standing in the way of ocean water coming on to the North Wildwood streets.

Recent videos showcase water starting to pull about 15 feet from the paved walkway.

The Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction project

The Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction project is moving extremely fast with Phases III, IV and V. The Cedar connection has just about finished with it’s top wood covering and Phase V is halfway completed.

Phases III, IV and V are expected to be fully completed by May 5th with the Spicer Ave Ramp being completed by June 12th and the Maple Ave ramp by June 28th.

Cedar Ave Go-Karts

The go-kart building on Cedar Ave and the boardwalk is being demolished. This is the building that sits behind the Seaport Aquarium on the boardwalk.

There are no plans on the table yet for this area but we know the land is for sale. What makes this location unique is that there is a parking structure under the building.

The Point Tiki Bar Wildwood

The Ocean Sand Motel has been fully demolished and the foundations have been laid for The Point Tiki Bar.

Since most of the property consists of outside bars, there isn’t much construction needed and by the looks of things, this could be open in late May.

The Boardwalk Mall and The Honky Tonk Saloon

Across the street at the Boardwalk Mall, crews are working overtime to get the new bar, The Honky Tonk Saloon.

The bar is an expansion of Capt’n Jack’s Island Grill enterprise (including its liquor license), and will be situated on the ground floor of the mall which used to be an arcade.

To get ready for the bar, new windows have been installed on the ground floor of Ocean Avenue.

There is no date on when The Honky Tonk Saloon will we would assume the end of May since the Barefoot Country Music Festival is in Mid-June.

The Vibes Hotel

Down the street, the Binns and Bonito Motel are continuing with their transformation into The Vibes Motel.

This motel offers a ton of Doo-Wop architecture designs including a blast-off roof but will have modern and top-of-the-line amenities inside each of their rooms.

They are estimated to be ready for late May.

Madison Resorts Wildwood Crest

After working non-stop for many months, Madison Resorts is getting very close to being completed.

Madison Resorts consists of two towers, the old Oceanview Hotel and the Royal Hawaiian.

The Oceanview side of the resort is expected to have an opening of mid-April while the Royal Hawaiian side will be closer to late May.

The Wildwood Video Archive toured the property and filmed it for you which will be up on our YouTube channel later on this month.

For a comprehensive look at these projects and more, the WVA has released a recap video as part of its monthly Wildwoods Construction Update.
