On the outside, we saw the installation of a new Doo-Wop neon sign for Capt’n Jacks, which is located on the top floor of the building.

The inside, well let’s just say you will not recognize the bottom floor. Gone is the arcade that used to call that home while something new will take its place, the Honky Tonk Saloon.

The Honky Tonk Saloon is a new country bar that got its theme from the Barefoot Country Music Festival that graces the beach in front of the building.

This festival has slowly become one of the largest on the East Coast with 36,000 attending in one night alone last summer.

The owners of the Boardwalk Mall wanted to bring that theme full-time to the island and so the Honky Tonk was born.

Over the past few months, the Wildwood Video Archive has been documenting the work being done on the building. You can see our latest video showcasing the front of the building at the bottom of this page.

On the outside, the building saw the installation of new windows, big letters spelling out the name of the bar, and a fresh navy blue coat of paint.

The inside went through a massive transformation which involved tearing down everything down to the brick and rebuilding it.

Everything you would need for a bar was installed from multiple bars, a stage, bar games and so much more.

According to their Facebook page, their grand opening will take place on Friday, May 10th.
