Wildwood’s Polar Bear Plunge 2024 Details
As winter descends upon the Jersey Shore, the Wildwoods are gearing up for an unconventional beach day that will leave you both chilled and thrilled.
On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1 pm, the iconic Wildwoods Convention Center will host the annual Polar Bear Plunge, a frosty dip into the Atlantic Ocean that promises a day of icy excitement and fundraising for a meaningful cause.
Special Olympics New Jersey brings back the Polar Bear Plunge to kick off the new year in style. This free-to-watch event draws daring plungers and enthusiastic spectators to the beach behind the Wildwoods Convention Center.

2024 Polar Bear Plunge Wildwood Details
While the spectacle is free for onlookers, participants commit to raising donations in tiered levels, adding an extra layer of excitement to the chilling experience.
Early Bear plungers, aiming to make a splash in the icy waters, must raise a minimum of $100 by November 30, 2023. Now I’m Ready plungers have until December 31, 2023, to secure a minimum of $110, while the Better Late Than Never plungers must gather $120 by January 12, 2024.
Latecomers, known as Almost Missed It Bear plungers, can register on-site the day of the event with a minimum donation of $125.
Registration is available online at www.PlungeWildwood.org, and on-site registration for Almost Missed It Bear plungers will be available on the day of the event. All plungers are encouraged to unleash their creativity by dressing up in costumes, using plunge props, making banners, and signs—all in the spirit of having fun.

Wildwood’s Polar Bear Plunge Is This Weekend
Beyond the exhilarating plunge, participants and children under 12 can warm up inside the Wildwoods Convention Center with a free lunch immediately following the event.
The Polar Bear Plunge is not just a daring swim; it serves as a key fundraiser for Special Olympics New Jersey, providing year-round training, competitions, leadership opportunities, and health screenings to thousands of athletes, all at no cost.
The event is family-friendly, offering incentives based on total funds raised, and special recognition for the top three individuals and top three fundraising teams. Check-in takes place from 10 am to 12:45 pm inside the Wildwoods Convention Center, with the plunge at 1 pm and lunch immediately following.
