Woman Struck by Police Vehicle on Wildwood Beach
A relaxing day at the beach turned into a scene of chaos and concern after a woman was struck by a Wildwood police vehicle on the sand near Rio Grande Avenue and the beach.
The incident, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. on a sunny Wednesday, left beachgoers in shock as they rushed to help the injured woman.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was lying on the beach when a Wildwood Police Department pickup truck, patrolling along the sandy shore, accidentally struck her.
The beach, known for its vibrant atmosphere and packed crowds, quickly became a scene of urgency and action as people rushed to the woman’s aid.
Ryan Cortes, a beachgoer who witnessed the accident, described the chaotic moments that followed. “The Wildwood police officer ran this lady over on the beach while he was swerving in and out of the beach, way too close. Citizens nearby had to scream at the truck to stop, and they had to gather to lift the vehicle off of the woman’s torso—it was truly horrible,” Cortes recounted.
In a matter of moments, beachgoers banded together, attempting to lift the police vehicle off the injured woman.
Their quick thinking and teamwork likely played a critical role in the emergency response. “The woman appeared to be moving, but she seemed to be severely injured, as you can imagine,” Cortes added.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene after being alerted to the incident. Fire rescue personnel quickly placed the woman on a backboard and rushed her to a waiting ambulance stationed at the crest vehicle entrance, near Ocean Towers.
The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition, suffering from multiple broken ribs and other injuries.

The incident has left many beachgoers questioning why the police vehicle was driving so close to a crowded beach area.
“No one understands why the cop was driving in a crowded beach so close to where everyone was!” said Cortes, echoing the sentiment of many who were present.
