Construction By the Wildwood Boardwalk Explained

Construction By the Wildwood Boardwalk Explained

We have been getting a ton of questions from folks asking us what is being built near the Wildwood sign at Leaming Avenue.

As you may know, the City of Wildwood is working on a multi-million dollar project, The Rio Grande Gateway project. This project started last year and was created to do many things; raise the road, create new pump stations, update the sides walks, build a new park, add new lights and refresh the entrance into the Wildwoods.

We did an update on this project a few weeks ago. Which you can see if you click the link below.

Rio Grande Project Update

Since then I would say the project is about 85% done. We will be sure to give you an update once it’s done.

Now back to the main question of what is being built at this section of the boardwalk. As part of the The Rio Grande Gateway project, a second pump station needed to be built to help push the water out to the ocean.

Think of it link this. They have one pump handling the flooding by the bridge and another pump handling the other side of the island or help the back-bay pump if needed.

The project file is described as;

“The work consists of the construction of a new pile supported 60″ Ductile Iron Stormwater Forcemain Outfall and Stormrwater Management Pump Station with Pumps, Controls, and Diesel Backup Power Generator. The proposed improvements will be located generally at the Leaming Avenue Beach Street in the City of Wildwood.”

For the next month expect to see construction going on there.
