On Saturday July 18th, 2015, The North Wildwood Beach Patrol and The North Wildwood Recreation Department hosted the annual The Boogie Board Races and it was a blast!
This years marked the 22nd year of the The Boogie Board Races and 114 children ranging in age from five (5) years to seventeen (17) years came to participate.
The children were broken into age groups (7 & Under, 8 through 11 and 12 through 17). Depending on how many children signed up in each age group determined how many heats were needed. Each heat consisted of eight (8) to ten (10) minutes to ride the wave and impress the judges. The categories this year were for the “Most Creative Ride”, “Longest Ride” and “Best Overall Ride.”
The judges for The Boogie Board Races were three (3) lifeguards from the North Wildwood Beach Patrol (NWBP). This years judges were guards, Sean McCarrick, Eric Rosenello and Victoria Brooks. John O’Brien a NWBP Lieutenant, who started the Boogie Board races 22 years ago, was the host.
The North Wildwood Recreation Department handled the PR, registrations, prizes, and helped run the races.
We would like to take the time to thank The North Wildwood Recreation Department and the North Wildwood Beach Patrol for taking the time to put on such as great event for the kids. It ran very smoothyl and everyone enjoyed themselves including the parents!

Longest Ride: 1. Brian Cunniff, 8, Wildwood Crest; 2. Regan Carpenter, 8, Springfield, Pa.
Best Overall Ride: 1. Olivia Belasco, 10, North Wildwood; 2. Tommy McGlinchey, 8, Jamison, Pa.
Ages 12-17
Most Creative Ride: 1. Buddy Monaghan, 12, Washington Township; 2. Tyler Goodwin, 12, Media, Pa.
Longest Ride: 1. John Lawall, 13, Newtown, Pa.; 2. Caitlyn Prior, 13, West Wildwood.
Best Overall Ride: 1. Mason Brewster, 12, Washington Township; 2. Kat Kincade, 15, Pottstown, Pa.
