14 Acres in West Wildwood Put up For Sale
The Wildwoods as a whole have gone through quite a transformation since they were first settled as the fishing village of Anglesea and the small beach town of Holly Beach.
The towns had seen major expansions, collages built, motels raised, and major hotels. Over that time every inch of the island got built upon or was saved as a park for locals and visitors alike.
Besides a motel or a school being demolished to make room for new houses, the Wildwoods don’t have much empty land available to purchase and build up until today.
Incorporated in 1920, West Wildwood was initially envisioned as a residential community focusing on providing a tranquil retreat for residents. The town’s founders likely recognized the appeal of the region’s coastal beauty and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
As part of the greater Wildwood area, West Wildwood became a haven for those seeking the perfect balance between a peaceful residential environment and easy access to the vibrant attractions of Wildwood itself.
Over the years, West Wildwood evolved in tandem with the changing dynamics of the Jersey Shore. The region experienced a surge in tourism during the mid-20th century, attracting visitors with its sandy beaches, lively boardwalk, and family-friendly entertainment.
This environment has made West Wildwood the ideal location for a shore house, offering a unique combination of tranquility and accessibility.
However, much of West Wildwood’s land has been developed, with one notable exception—the land just south of the island. This area remained untouched due to the presence of railroad tracks that traversed through the properties, rendering the land unbuildable. With the passage of decades, the trains ceased their journeys, and the tracks were removed, leaving behind an untouched canvas—an ideal space for future development.
Recent property listings have brought this unique opportunity to light. A total of 14 acres of this pristine land are now available for purchase, presented in two main properties for sale.
The first, 0 Center Avenue, encompasses 12.37 acres and is listed for $6 million. The second, 200 Evergreen Drive, comprises 1.77 acres and is available for $1.5 million.

These properties all sit near each other, ideal for a larger project that needs a lot of space.
It’s important to note that this is a “sold as-is” transaction. Prospective buyers should be prepared to navigate the necessary approvals, including local and state permits, as well as CAFRA and DEP authorizations.
Imagine the prospect of a new resort right in West Wildwood. A destination that could rival the likes of the iconic Breakers, Ocean Key Resort and Spa, Ritz Carlton, Westin, or even Paradise Island Beach Resort are some options that could live right there.
