Dear Friends:
Like everyone else, we have been monitoring the national situation as it relates to COVID 19 and taking necessary precautions to safeguard our residents and employees here in North Wildwood. To that end North Wildwood and Wildwood have developed the following additional restrictions aimed at enforcing social distancing.
The following public statement is being released at this time:
Wildwood and North Wildwood Issue New Regulations for Beach, Boardwalk, Bike Paths and Short-Term Rentals
Wildwood & North Wildwood– Per further guidance provided by Federal, State, and County Agencies, and consistent with current Federal Social Distancing Guidelines, the following additional restrictions and prohibitions will be voted on by the Municipal Governing bodies in North Wildwood and Wildwood on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
I. ALL PUBLIC BEACHES are hereby closed, effective 12:00 midnight Wednesday, April 8, 2020, until 12:00 midnight May 1, 2020. • Sunbathing, sitting in chairs, lying on blankets, organized sports, and grouping of people on the beach is hereby prohibited while these restrictions are in place.
• Exceptions include: o In an effort to provide an outlet for physical exercise/activity, the following exceptions are hereby granted on all public beaches: walking, jogging, biking, fishing, surfing and metal detecting.
II. The NORTH WILDWOOD and WILDWOOD BOARDWALK, The NORTH WILDWOOD BIKE PATH and SEAWALL are hereby closed, effective 12:00 midnight Wednesday, April 8, 2020 until 12:00 midnight May 1, 2020. • Walking, running, biking and gatherings of any kind on the Boardwalks, Bike Paths or Seawall are prohibited except as permitted below.
• Exceptions include: o Prior to 8:00 a.m. each day, persons are permitted to walk, run or bike on the NORTH WILDWOOD BIKE PATH; o Prior to 8:00 a.m. each day, persons are permitted to walk or run on the NORTH WILDWOOD SEAWALL;
III. ALL SHORT-TERM & TRANSIENT RENTALS, including all hotels, motels, guesthouses, and private residences are hereby prohibited between midnight Wednesday, April 8, 2020 until Thursday, April 30th, 2020. For the purpose of this order, a short-term rental is defined as any rental of 30 days or less.
• Exceptions Include:
o Any exception listed in NJOEM Administrative Order 2020-8; o Rentals during this time period to employees of any Municipal, State, County or Federal Agency seeking housing in conjunction with their official duties; o Rentals during this time period to employees of essential businesses seeking housing in conjunction with their official duties; The Mayors of North Wildwood and Wildwood thank all residents, property owners, and visitors for their patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Residents and property owners are reminded to continue to practice social distancing measures recommended by the CDC on all public grounds while these restrictions are in place, maintaining AT LEAST 6’ from others while out in public.
