In a video provided to us by the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, or “dvids” for short, we are able to see our Coast Guard members at work as they try to save folks from a boat in horrible swells.

On Sunday, July 25th, the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City, North Carolina responded to a mayday call just 60 nautical miles southeast of Cape May, N.J.

A 40-foot sportfishing boat was stuck in rough waters with seven people aboard.

The Coast Guard got out to the ship and rescued all seven with no incident.

Below you can check out the video of their rescue.

As a reminder, Mariners are encouraged to check weather forecasts before heading out on the water.

Thank you to our Coast Guard members who put their lives on the line to keep us safe!
